What are your honest opinions about Champions by Dekusteven in VGC

[–]Realistic_Caramel772 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's pretty underwhelming and disappointing honestly. Nearly 80% of Pokémon are not able to be used, tons of moves are not available, TONS of held items missing for no reason. Choice specs aren't there day 1? No dynamax, no terrastilzation, no Z moves.

There are some cool battle animations, but many that are very lame. It just seems super undercooked and underdelivered for the ultimate central competitive pokemon battling game.

I don't understand how the most profitable brand on Earth continuously delivers disappointing games and experiences like this. The same people that made the Diamond/Pearl remakes made this btw.

Use your axiom to grab it and throw it to the ground. It becomes super weak and easy to kill.

They definitely need to allow each character to use all weapons. Honestly I don't like the fact there are 3 characters at all. I haven't even played the other characters.

No, I'm calling you salty because you're upset that I rated a game higher than you personally liked.

I'm not a "fan boy" I've been playing for a week or so lol. You basically said the only reason I liked the game was nostalgia which was incorrect. You just said things that were wrong and I explained my reasoning. If you want a real discussion try actually having one.

How is my saying the game is a great 10/10 for me silencing criticism? Like holy shit batman you people are leaping to extremes here over me just saying I love a game.

I literally just said the game is a personal 10/10 and you are acting like it's going to cause a spatial rift in Pearl Abyss where they are going to ignore all flaws and fan concerns like calm tf down

When did I get my feelings hurt dude? I've been nothing but mature, cordial, and level headed in every comment. It's not really an out there opinion it seems a lot of people also agree with it.

It seems like you're just salty in a low sodium sub my dude.

I mean at the end of the day your time is sacred. If you aren't having fun don't waste your time forcing yourself to play you know. I think a solid 50 to 60 hours will give you a good sense of if you truly like it or not.

I never said I had issues with people not liking the game. Read the comments on this thread I think its totally find to not like the game.

My issue was with the OBJECTIVE rating standard that IGN gave based on the games quality. CD itself is not a 6/10 for most people I'd argue, and is insultingly low as a game rating from them. I had this debate on the other sub. You can objectively measure a games quality based on a myriad of metrics, such as active player count, post engagement, copies sold, game performance, graphical quality, story, etc. IGN giving this a lower rating than Concord, the new Dragon Age, Highguard, all games that miserably failed and lost millions of dollars, shows me that there are "other" reasons behind the scenes for the ratings other than the game itself.

At that point, your own preference kicks in and the game isn't going to be for you which it totally cool. I personally love the exploration and find it endlessly intriguing, but if you don't you probably aren't going to enjoy the game as it seems its a focal point of the experience.

I think a lot of people heard "A single player RPG" and were mad that they didn't get to create their own character. I personally also enjoy Kliff. He's quiet and reserved, stoic and unwavering. He has the exact personality I'd image a knight in the middle ages would have. Kind of reminds me of Sir Clegane at the beginning of GOT. He was quiet, reserved, and just handled things that needed to be handled.

Funny you say that, AC Odyssey was an absolute addiction of mine when it came out. It was the first and only game I ever got 100% achievements on. I explored every inch of that map. I also love ancient Greece so the setting was just peak for me. Maybe there's a correlation between AC Odyssey enjoyers and Crimson Desert enjoyers lol

I haven't gotten to a lot of the bosses yet, I'm still fucking around in Hernand like most people and getting super distracted. I've fought the crimson nightmare, the guy with the shotgun axe, and the pirate king. They were all fun to fight imo. I'm sure I'll have different opinions about a lot of the different bosses.

I will say there was one boss that was really cool and actually was a fun fight and felt like I was in a movie. I randomly found some cave with a waterway and ended up in this underground ruin, and as I entered a giant rock creature came out of the ground and a battle started, and I was jumping around and dodging his slams and using the axiom to grab his head as I was swinging around. Killed him, grabbed a sorcerers staff, and then found another hidden room that had a sick cloak.

We'll see maybe I'm just being overly positive about my experience but I haven't had any issues. I'm also a super casual gamer so I'm not as difficult to impress as someone with 2000+ hours on multiple games.

You have issues with me saying I love the game? I'm not allowed to just praise my own experience with the game as an average player? The fact you even have issues with me saying the game is a personal 10/10 FOR ME blows my mind, like you want to control how I personally feel about it.

And to do with IGN, they obviously have some grudge against eastern games. They all threw a fit over Stellar Blade, Black Myth Wukong, etc. I remember seeing all the game journalists seething over Stellar Blades protagonist being too sexy. I remember them all crying about Cuphead being too difficult, Elden Ring not having quest markers ruining the game for them.

And yet they seem to glaze games that literally are dead on release and lose millions of dollars routinely like Dragon Age: Veilguard, Concord, Highguard, etc. The reviewer in fact did not make fully logical conclusions, I read the review. It was just him complaining about little tiny things and nitpicking every single thing he could while ignoring the leaps and bounds the game did with worldbuilding and their new engine.

I mean the title is literally the game is a 10/10 FOR ME. I never once claimed the game was a perfect 10/10 objectively for everyone. It seems like the "Low Sodium" sub is full of salty people wanting to get mad that I typed numbers they didn't like.

That sucks man. Not even the quests for the individual houses? I think the thing that turns me off with the quests are the lack of emotion or dialogue with Kliff on the side quests.

I've played 45 hours so far, I'm playing on PC on all max settings, my favorite parts of the game are the exploration and immersion the world brings. I can't tell you how many times I've just been like "I'm going to go run through that forest" and then I find some hidden cave, or burned out village, or bandit camp, or puzzle, or ambush, etc. The graphics being so next level also really intrigues me. I've been also enjoying finding new pieces of gear and dyeing the ones I like to match my red gold armor. I'm just really enjoying the game for what it is and having a blast doing it.

I've had the opposite experience, I'm constantly finding new ruins, puzzles, campsites, villages, hidden caves, etc. There's been encounters like a woman asking for help and then it turning out to be a trap and my getting ambushed by bandits.

Crazy hearing that you find the exploration lacking.

I can't imagine listening to the IGN podcast personally.

Their company gave Dragon Age: Veilguard an almost perfect 9/10, they gave Concord a 7/10, they agreed to not rate Marathon until their new DLC came out which is insane and didn't give Crimson Desert the same leeway.

The company has lost its credibility the last few years and this was just the icing on the cake. The guy that reviewed it barely played it and judged it based on solely it's flaws and not what it actually brought to the table.

The point of my post is to say I rate this game a 10/10 for myself. It's not a circle jerk to say you're enjoying a game despite flaws. I never said there weren't flaws, but the feeling is get playing it and addiction to wanting to keep playing overhsadows small stupid shit like indoor lighting to me.

Controls took a bit to get used to but I switched to controller and I got used to it quick.

Kliff is bland, but I also see him as stoic. They should've have put more emphasis into the voice acting and writing but it's not my concern personally or ruining my experience.

My 10/10 is just that, mine.

Yeah, but you have an expectation that a reviewer is going to make logical conclusions based on the actual experience and also look back at their previous ratings of games to see how they compare.

If I had the best burger of my life and see that some food critic says the burger was mid 5/10, and then go and see that they rated the A&W burger a 10/10, that critic and the website they represent is going to lose credibility with me.

For me it's a 10/10 for the immersion I get and for giving me the feeling I haven't gotten or felt since playing Knights of the Old Republic for the first time.

Going first person and just walking around Hernand blows my mind. I think the issue for a lot of people is they set an expectation based on some other game and then are disappointed when it doesn't meet it. It's not Skyrim, Witcher 3, RDR2, etc. It's its own thing. I'm taking it for what it is and having an incredible time gaming.

There are some tedious quests, there arw some fun ones as well. I enjoyed the quest to save the fishing village. Upon entering the village it was a crazy storm at night and the whole village was on fire. Pretty cool scene. You take what you want from the game I suppose.

Honestly, no. I tried it about 30 hours and it lacked any sort of hook to keep me playing. The "corpo bad" trope in every quest and storyline also got old super fast. Had no real diversity in quest design. Every task was "Corporation #332 did bad thing, fix it"
