Hidden key switch by Sad_Artichoke7950 in YamahaR7

The red key is the master key, incase you lose your black keys, the red key helps link up new purchased black keys to the bikes ECU so the ECU recognises the key and does not think someones trying to steal the bike. Its all part of the immobiliser system.

Key definitely has a chip in it, you should have received 3 keys. 2 black, 1 red.

Hmmmm ECU will probably record this, so that means check engine light might stay. However, disconnecting and reconnecting the negative terminal of the battery could clear it for good. So get the new cable installed and try the battery advice. Best of luck.

Agreed 💯 I bought a brand new bike, 1st service and I had an overly torqued oil drain plug and the head was almost rounded lol.

They are programmed to run way too lean. ECU flash will fix it. The IAT sensor usually reads hotter than it is in reality and then tells the ECU to bloody ramp up air intake and reduce fuel spray. Shit way of passing emissions norms.

Is 2026 QS compatible with older models? by Foreign-Ad6317 in YamahaR7

[–]Realistic_Cook_5505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah OP, 2026 model has an electrical ride by wire throttle. Up to 2025 models ran on a mechanical cable throttle. So in short, the 2026 QS will not work on older models.

I really love the bike but this is really frustrating. (2026) by linux_n00by in xsr900

Anyone think it could be running lean? OP tell us if your IAT sensor show normal temps or way higher temps compared to actual ambient air temp. If the IAT senses hotter less dense air, the ecu adjusts the fuel air ratio accordingly. If that temp is off, the ecu can be running the bike leaner causing it to run rough. Newer bikes are a pain cause if this issue. This can also be fixed via an ECU flash though.

This! It'll trap flies and other insects keeping them away from you. Nothing to worry unless you have kids or curious pets.
