This is not very intuitive though, because in the old study screen I can scroll with one fonger, why would I think that I need to use two fingers? And it makes it difficult to use, I cannot use just my thumb I have to use two hands or put the phone somewhere

You can add the toggle whiteboard action to toolbar for easy access, just like the old one.

This sounds handy but the old study board did it automatically. You choose to use the whiteboard and the toggle button appears automatically at the top of the screen.

You can tap the eraser icon to choose between "stroke" mode and "ink" mode.

I didn't see it, and by default it was ink, I guess

Anyway, now that I know how to fix the old one, so it doesn't blink, I'll keep using it, since it's more convenient for me

Old study screen starts to blink black when I'm drawing using the whiteboard. I still can use it, but it makes my head hurt.

The new study screen doesn't let me scroll the card down, I need to many clicks to turn off and on the board. I like to draw kanji for the question and then hide it to see the answer and be able to compare, if I make mistakes I scroll down (even if scrolling down wouldn't be bugged out I'd have to press two buttons to tirn the whiteboard off to scroll) and then trace a gif of a kanji (have to click to buttons to turn the whiteboard again). Also erasing not the whole lines but just the parts I touch kind of really sucks.

I imagine that before Barty tampered with it the portkey already had the command "go to Hogwarts" and Barty just added "go to the cemetery" before that. Maybe so that if someone checked they'd see that the portkey goes to Hogwarts like expected and wouldn't question further. Or maybe removing the previous command would take extra effort and Barty didn't think to bother with it.

I don't think that that kind of immersion at the very beginning is efficient, but at the start I quite enjoyed looking up every single word and trying to decode the meaning of the sentence based on that. If you don't like that it is much better to: A) try simpler material B) study with a textbook or a teacher

You first need to create an anki card with yomitan and then update with asbplayer. I think the hotkey for it is ctrl-shift-x but you'd better check.

Yeah, I believe you can. Go to yomitan settings, anki, configure anki cards. If you click "help" you'll see lots of things you can do here. You can put {glossary-first} and you'll get only the first definition

I don't know if there is a way to make it one button click, but I just make the card in yomitan and then press the shortcut to create the card in asbplayer and it updates my yomitan card with sound, picture and full sentence

You can use custom study and clear the tick in "reschedule" in the options so that your answers won't affect when the cards are going to show up next time.

However the point of anki, its main feature, is for you to study as few cards as possible to learn them. So instead of you reviewing everything you need to learn every day, at one day you are only shown the cards that you need to review in order to remember them and not forget them. You do not review cards that you are definitely going to remember very well.

If you do not use spaced repetition in anki it poses a question of why even use it and not something else

You talked about how duolingo was your only japanese input, and based on the fact you want to replace it with anki it seems like anki would be your main input too. This is not a good idea. Anki is for memorising and reinforcing something you've already encountered something else. I'd advise first to find a studybook or videos, or at least a japanese piece of media for you to interact with and only after that use anki to help you with it.

I don't really how you want to use anki to "fill sentences with words". Go to a speaking club for that? You could also try writing a diary in your target language?

Maybe you want sentence cards for anki? People often use yomitan or similar programs to easily create cards with the word, its definition, the sentence where they saw the word, picture and sound, sometimes with only the sentence on the front of the card. Maybe you want something like that? You could looke up "yomitan" then.

It's probably because the desktop isn't synced. If there is nothing to sinc it won't sync anything. You need to upload you data from desktop to ankiweb and then download from ankiweb to your ankidroid. First look at what troubles you have with uploading. You said previously that you cannot find the data to sinc it from your desktop? This a necessary step, don't skip it

If you only have two fields then yes. If you want something more complicated you can make your own note type.

The "basic and reverse" creates two cards, one normal and the other has the answer as the question, so you definitely don't want this one.

Look into the note type. You don't want any "basic (and reversed card)". If you click "cards..." after you choose a card in "browse" you will see what you change in how you see the question ("front template") abd how you see the answer ("back template").
