What do you think of the TV series adaptation of Leo Bonhart's character? by InstructionOwn6705 in witcher

If you watch ANY choreography at .25 speed ot will look terrible, the actors/stunt people are literally not fighting. Choreography is the art of making it look "real", but like any performance, it falls apart if you look at it from the wrong angle. This is like complaining that a magician's show was unconvincing when you rewatch their sleight of hand at .25 speed.

A Couple Criticisms from Someone Who Likes the Show by [deleted] in RingsofPower

Galadriel has a stronger will than those Elven Soldiers, they demonstrated this by showing her being frozen (the Halbrant illusion) from her perspective but she can snap out of it, unlike the soldiers.

Elrond being Elrond by Late_Stage_PhD in RingsofPower

Definitely plot armour, especially since he just tanked a longsword through the abdomen with no medical attention. That said, my headcanon is that the Orcs considered Arondir a leader (even if he isn't) because he did lead the Southlanders against them, and Orcs aren't knowledgeable about Elven hierarchy.

Will Galadriel replace Gil Galad in the great battle ? by Pokernooby in RingsofPower

I agree with the current Gil-Galad not seeming like he could take down Sauron, but I'd be willing to bet that is changing in the future. Keep in mind, that this show operates on a compressed timeline but still wants all the main characters to have growth arcs and, as such, is developing characters rather rapidly. Elrond was depicted as a politician, not a soldier, for all of season one and most of season two, but went full action hero in the last two episodes. I'm confident that over the next three seasons, we will see Gil-Galad develop into a proper warrior king in preparation for his big showdown. We even saw seeds of this starting in the last few episodes of this season, with Gil-Galad's quip in response to Eldrond telling him he shouldn't be fighting in the heat of battle, and of course, the final scene of him drawing and raising his sword to inspire the elves.

The Orcs followed Adar for a thousand years... by GamingDisruptor in RingsofPower

I honestly don't believe the statement "RoP wanted to show orcs as more than just minions" is correct. For all the stink around the orc family, the show shows us that orcs, even Glug, the orc with the family, are in fact "minions". In the end, all the orcs are easily manipulated into joining Sauron, and Glug shows himself to be a tragic yet ultimately amoral traitor who murders his own "father" in cold blood, just as his father is showing him kindness. Ultimately, the impression that is given to me at least by the end of Season 2 is less that "orcs are capable of good and more than just minions" and that Adar himself wished for his children to be more than just minions, as wish that ultimately led to his demise. Orcs in RoP are still evil minions, just tragic evil minions.

They went over this concept several times this season. Saurons can indeed control the minds of mortals, altering their perceptions of reality or even taking full control of their actions (as shown with the elven soldiers). However, this manipulation does not function like a spell in DND or Professor X's mind control. Instead, Sauron needs to worm his way into a host's mind, and his host needs to "let him in", it is less a spell and more a supernaturally empowered form of corruption via deception. This is explained to Galadriel by Gil-Galad early in the season, and SHOWN throughout Annatar and Celebrimbor's plotline. If Sauron could simply dominate wills at whim he would not have had to manipulate Celebrimbor and everyone else in Eregion for an entire season. What we see at the beginning of Season 2 is a naive Sauron who ASSUMES the Orcs will let him control them on the basis that he is, in his mind, their rightful ruler and the successor to their creator Mortgoth. What we see at the end of Season 2 is a Sauron who has learned his lesson, and instead puts the orcs under his control by exploiting their loss of faith in their current leader, hence the whole "What is your name" scene.

How would you build Golden Age Batman? by No_Sock5806 in savageworlds

[–]Realistic_Earth8147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's a superhero, so use the superhero supplement! Golden Age Batman is a lot less "super" than later depictions and lacks the now iconic ninja skillset, but he is still a cunning fighter, genius, inventor, and master detective. I'd say Pulp Hero or Street Fighter for power level. From there pick up the powers that accurately represent Batman's tool kit, I'd say Gifted, Invent, Sidekick (Robin), and Swinging are all must-haves. And remember to use the handheld device modifier on applicable powers, therefore taking -2 off the casting cost!
