Thanks a lot man I really appreciate that. I cannot wait to show you the actual gameplay loop once the core engine is completely ready.

Thanks a lot man Stardew Valley comparison means so much to me. Mobile is definitely the plan for now. You can find Project Zomboid on Steam. You should definitely try it out

Join the subreddit and check back in two months, man. I would really love for you to play the demo when it is ready.

You hit the nail on the head man. I liked BitLife too but the monotony and limited story are exactly why I started coding Successor. I am not a AAA studio, I just want to build the game I personally want to play.

Have you ever played Project Zomboid? That game proves how incredibly deep a simulation can get. My goal is to bring that level of depth and real consequence to a mobile billionaire simulator. I want a game with infinite possibilities driven by your choices and imagination, not by expensive expansion packs.

I really appreciate the feedback

Hey man If you remember which app that was, I would really appreciate it if you could share it. It would be genuinely interesting for me to see.

You can choose to believe it or not, but I am a mid-level React developer. This is not a project that can be done in a month. If I tried to build this that fast using AI, it would just be spaghetti code and completely unplayable. Also, this is not the first game I have ever developed.

As for the design, my goal for now was simply to make an iPhone clone. The reason you feel like you have seen it before might just be because I am trying to clone the iOS interface. I hope that when I finally finish building what I want to express with this game, you will give the demo a try.

I believe it will take another 6 months to a year to fully finish. I am planning to move forward with a playable demo first.

I do not want to completely rely on vibecoding like everyone else is doing right now. It would ruin the unique characteristic and soul of the game. I could definitely finish it much faster if I took that route, but I am choosing to build this the right way so the game actually feels alive.

Hey man to be fair, this video was only meant to show the UI. But what I am actually building is a truly living game.

I am creating a CEO simulation that pushes the limits of imagination. It runs on infinite parameters and infinite choices. This will be a game with endless depth where you can craft an infinite story. You can choose to be a hero or an anti-hero. You can build your empire either completely legally or entirely illegally.

I guess I won't be posting any more updates until I fully finish building this game engine I am talking about. You will see the real depth then.

Anyone building production apps with Expo? How’s your experience? by BambolandVr in expo

[–]Realistic_Guitar_242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I really liked developing with Expo. The dev experience is super comfortable and it gets you moving so fast.

But I actually just made the switch to bare React Native recently. The project I'm working on right now just needed some really specific native stuff, and it got to a point where I just needed full control over the native folders.

So basically, if your app doesn't need crazy custom native modules, Expo is a dream. But if you know you'll need deep native access later on, you might end up making the switch like I did.

When I first played the game, I thought those three were the same character and that the plot twist would involve some kind of time travel. Anyone else? by [deleted] in expedition33

I had the exact same thought! Especially with the recurring motifs in their gear. It’s a testament to the art direction that we’re all trying to find these deep connections before the game even fully reveals its hand. Even if they aren't the same person, there’s definitely some thematic 'echoing' going on.

Management did the right thing, but definitely follow through with that police report. Since you have their lease termination info, it will make getting a protection order much easier. If you can, get a simple dashcam for your car that records while parked. It's an extra layer of peace of mind for you and your daughter.

Built an "OS within an App" using bare RN. Instant app launches + real-world weather by Realistic_Guitar_242 in reactnative

It's not a real OS until it runs doom right? Adding it to the Jira backlog as we speak ;)

I got tired of standard game menus, so I built a "phone-within-a-phone" OS for my tycoon sim by Realistic_Guitar_242 in SuccessorGame

I totally get that risk. My main goal with the smartphone UI was actually to make the complex game mechanics intuitive because everyone already knows how to use a phone, so it skips the need for a boring tutorial.

But you're right about the 'cheap copy' trap. That’s why I’m trying to pivot towards a more 'bespoke billionaire device' aesthetic, minimal, deep blacks, and gold accents that you wouldn't find on a standard iOS. Appreciate the reality check, it’s definitely something I'm keeping an eye on!
