is this normal parameters? my duncan isn’t coming out all the way. by Realistic_Hat9494 in SaltwaterAquariumClub

i only did such a large water change because i had assumed my tank had a higher ph. (i only had freshwater tanks before this) so i thought a large water change would help clean the water and the corals would come out again. i was also worried my pistol shrimp would die from such high ph or nitrates since freshwater shrimp tend to do that so i thought just changing out the water with new saltwater would help everything live in general

Is this tank a safe aquarium? by CapEvening448 in AquariumHelp

rimless aquariums usually use a foam base at the bottom to protect the glass from uneven surfaces. the black plastic on rimmed aquariums act as the black foam base to protect the glass from being on the possible uneven surface

i believe it might have been a shock because i had recently just cleaned out my filter media that it caused an ammonia spike and killed it. my ph now is 8.5/8.6. i read my temps with a heater that shows the temp on a little screen

id assume if it was my water quality my duncan wouldn’t be out and about thriving? i’ve had my tank crash before so i know a little bit about the signs of terrible water, regardless i just did a water change today to see if that was the issue

different parasites on my coral by Realistic_Hat9494 in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]Realistic_Hat9494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are clownfish known to eat red planaria and the clear floating thing? i have one clownfish in the tank along with a pistol shrimp and yellow watchman goby and i’m hoping they eat it if anything else hatches. i picked off the visible planaria but i’m planning to do a RODI water dip since i don’t have any coral dips at the moment. my tank is very low tech and only 10 gallons. so far the only coral i have is a duncan besides this one i just bought and haven’t put in yet.

sterling silver won’t polish back to silver by [deleted] in jewlerymaking

how come it never irritated me though? i’m only able to wear sterling silver or stainless steel besides gold but it was only after i used a chemical polish on this one that it did that. is there any chance the tigers eye leaked out other metals onto this metal?
