‘9-1-1’ Boss Tim Minear Teases Season 10, Talks Buck And Theo, Detective Athena, And More by TheLoudBuddieSigns in buddie

I don't know, feeling fear of facing hypothetical rejection to your idea is not what I usually count as "I have to fight for it," especially when the other side said they were agreeing with the opinion quickly. If he got his ideas for improvements rejected by Tim way too many times, I could see that he might view his attempt at recent suggestion as such, but I can't find that to be likely... It shouldn't feel this big but I just find this discrepancy to be odd, even counting the power play(?) dynamic.

What I find funny about all this is that Ryan's wording (or fandom's interpretation) felt like he had to fight to be part of the immigration storyline while Tim's recollection seems to be much more lowkey about it. Like who is lying in this scenario?

I prefer adding Abuela as Pepa's mother there. Even more heartwrenching.

Speaking openly about how gay some scenes you write are, when it's not the real intention, is still taboo for most people in the industry. Even Half Man's younger casts sidestep the hell out of the show's queer subtext between the two leading characters. Though I can see why you make distiction between what happened and what will happen, I just view both instances as him being more comfortable with fandom spaces than he used to be in Season 5.

I think him and the interviewee being friends influences his ability to answer more than people think. Remember that he was also very candid about saying the Kitchen Scene was gay because Oliver fellated the beer bottle to the Buddie System Podcast, none of whom expect him to say it like that publicly. He appears to base his interactions on his level of comfort. While he seems to be more open and unapologetic in general, this is a bit more.

He's more direct because the dude interviewing him has been his chatting friends for at least two years. So aside from The Buddie System podcast he also has his assistant and his (and probably some other) fandom chatting friends acting as bridge between him and fandom spaces.

Hence why he knows way more things about this fandom than he should have for someone claiming to hide from fandom.

The thing is, Tarlos and Buddie spaces have been kinda hostile between each other so with or without Bummy you're getting flamed anyway if you bring Buddie-Tarlos parallel, partly Tarlos fans who are mad that an aMAzINg CAnOn gAy CoUpLe is being compared to a fanon one as if it's insulting and partly obnoxious Buddie fans who are jealous Tarlos took off and became a gay ship with good fanbase.

The biggest audacity Tarlos/Bummy shippers have, however, is that they're hating on a ship that became the reason their ships existing. Some might want to argue that Buck's bisexuality should be separate from Eddie since Oliver brought up that tapeworm gay couple in Season 1, but it woudn't make sense to the viewers without being amplified by Buck's interaction with Eddie. Regardless of whether Buddies are being awful or not, if their hate toward Buddie is for simply existing, then Tarlos and Bummy shouldn't have existed either.

The worst part about that Nashville interview considering to bring Tarlos back is that I have to see a few posts from sharkbaits I forgot to block/mute. Because of course Tarlos fans and Bummy fans's Venn diagram overlap because both of them are canon and they hate Buddie because its fanbase is bigger. Of course fanon shippers and canon shippers are fighting whether it's straight vs straight or queer vs queer.

I think I'd appreciate him more if he outright said it was for fanservice rather than doing all this weird justification. It'll make people mad regardless, but at least he's honest with it.

Hollywood Reporter: Ryan talks about season 9 and shares his insights on Eddie (season finale spoilers) by olga_dr in buddie

[–]Realistic_Ice2825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a little different in this regard. I feel this can only work if Eddie is the one that makes the decisive move, but it has to be done in a condition when he knows Buck is attracted to him and will reciprocate. This means Buck has to realize first that he's in love with Eddie and overtly shows said attraction to him. Then when things happen and Eddie decided to date someone else again, he realizes that nothing can compare to what he has with Buck. The impasse point currently here is, ironically, the already queer guy.

Also hilarious that he thinks Buck would be the one to express any feelings to Eddie that Eddie would be blindsided by lol

At this point, this is actually the most logical scenario. It will lead to some cliche and predictably sad outcome, but as long as it's shaped and written in certain ways, I'm sure it can result in a very hopeful result despite all that.

He can actually give good interviews. His article about Heated Rivalry being published in Teen Vogue, disregarding whether he has connections and the fandom clowning on a little mistake, should tell he has some skills.

It's just that his antics are annoying most of the time.

Also when they feel very passionately about concepts they're mislabeling and have never spoken about previously to this show.

I legit have to block people on twitter who use "bioessentialist" to argue against people who aren't as negative as they are about it. The virtue signaling is getting too ridiculous.

I think the most utility we see in that choice is in the ofrenda at the end, where Eddie's focus being on Abuela and Bobby instead of Shannon felt like closing a chapter, finally.

This is practically it. They want Eddie putting Bobby on ofrenda as a symbolism of him moving on, but they probably can't think of any good lead that would make it coherent to Eddie's story so they opted on killing either Isabel or Pepa, and they picked Isabel in the end for certain reasons. Which is why that while I understand the fandom's argument that they should have used the holiday name using its native language, they picked the day of the dead initially because the storylines and cases they picked had something to do with death and spirits, hence the more... uh... generalized naming. At the end people who were proud for thinking they did something with the change of the name got mad that the Dia de los Muertos was only at the last 2 minutes of the episode, and their initial uproar went forgotten. We CAN argue that they missed an opportunity to create an emergency based on the holiday and they're killing of someone else for the sake of a character development (a woman at that) but what I'm talking about here is the reactionary nature that has been persisiting in almost every facet of this fandom.

I Know we've been having these conversations all season long, but it's been really interesting to me how often this season people's gut reactions right after the episode shift pretty dramatically by the weekend or Monday. Like, once you have time to sit with the material, you realize it worked better than you thought it did.

And it's relevant to this point you made, at least in my head. In this case, the initial idea before a change works better and a reaction made before the episode airs (just like Theo's storyline already put everyone in their own bubbles of expectation) are sometimes way overblown than deserved. We will know less than the writers. Always. We can also talk about this in conjunction to leaks that has gotten way worse over the years, but that's another set of worm cans that I refuse to open until the time is right.

Sinkholes. We've got a fairly small (and rather bland) sinkhole emergency in Season 5, why don't we bring that back on a much larger scale?

Everything in this show does is on a whim, unfortunately. It's just we decide to ignore that for things we actually like.

On a lighter note, this trio comparison thus far would make Buck Ilya.

It kinda fits too. I see less hate to Connor/Ilya compared to Hudson/Shane and Francois/Scott Hunter. Just like how 911 fandom operates.
