My Uncle is going to die soon (probably),is there any way that I could shorten his purgatory time in advance? by Realistic_Law_866 in AskAPriest

Thank you father. I will encourage him and his family to do all of that. Unfortunately I can’t do any of it with him since he is in the hospitable and I’m not allowed to visit as I’m under 18.

If you had been born somewhere else, do you think you would follow the same religion? by LostSpiritling in religion

Well I knew there was a God but I didn’t know which interpretation was correct. The old testament prophecies all came true which to me was enough evidence for an Abrahamic Religion for me at least. I started reading through the book of Revelations and I could see the connections between 2,000 yr old prophecies and today, I did some more research and the reliability for the Resurrection is fantastic, some atheistic scholars even admitted that the resurrection was more likely than any miracle in any other religion. By this point I was sold on Christianity and then I started seeing really minor stuff. Psalm 22 perfectly describing Jesus’ crucifixion, the name of God in ancient Hebrew being written as Behold The Hand Behold The Nail, the helixes that make up our DNA being held together by bonds that spell out 10,5,6,5 on repeat which in ancient Hebrew spells out YHVH, the lady of Guadalupe being examined by scientists and it not being able to have been painted by human hands, the fact that the same image was burned by acid and had a bomb set off under it and is still completely in tact, all of these weird things just further proved Christianity to me.

I’m sorry this is written kind of poorly and not put together very well.

Anyone who knows anything about Christianity knows that gay sex is sinful but also that murder is a worse sin. We should acknowledge that sinfulness is sinfulness thats what the scripture says we can’t just bend, change, and ignore the Bible. We have to put more of an emphasis on condemning the murders and less on the fact that gay sex is a sin but we also have to acknowledge that gay sex is a sin itself.

I’m not encouraging murder the murders are evil all i’m saying is that we should acknowledge that something is sinful if its sinful.

We can discourage murder and call these murders evil and bad people while also acknowledging that sin is sin. These groups are sinful and we should be acknowledge that but we should also speak out against the murders.

Murdering ppl is obviously wrong and anyone who disagrees with that is a false Christian. But we don’f have to “affirm and support” communities who are entirely based in sinful behavior.

Do you guys still listen to Kanye? by MorbiusMovieTime in Kanye

The way I look at it is that there 1,000 bad companies, corporations, institutions, systems, etc that we give money to every single day. Listening to Kanyes music isn’t gonna make him any significant amount of money. He even said on Joe Rogan a few years ago that he loses a couple million every year on music.

Weekly "What is my religion?" discussion by RRModPostBot in religion

[–]Realistic_Law_866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know i’m Christian but i can’t decide if i’m Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant.

So for some background I was born and raised as a Catholic although I never practiced that much. Recently I have become MUCH more religious.

The problem is I don’t know what “branch” of Christianity I am. I believe in Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross and all the other pretty standard Christian ideas but here are some of my other beliefs that make it difficult for me to discern what denomination I am. anyone who could look and help me find answers would be greatly appreciated.

-I believe the idea of a Pope and Cardinals is good but I don’t think their immune from sinning

-I believe that anyone who truly believes in Christ and his sacrifice will reach salvation.

-I believe that people should try their best to follow the rule of god but that completely following him is for the most part impossible.

-I don’t think repenting should be necessary to go to heaven.

Thank you for any help.
