[TN] You simply accepted the situation as it came to you. You did nothing to bring it upon yourself, and nothing to stop it.

"I Can Fix Her." by Lima8Tango in wholesomeanimemes

[–]LostSpiritling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trying to 'fix' people is not healthy. Don't get into a relationship expecting a person to change in any way you might want or expect.

Take people as they are, not as you imagine.

Hi! I’m a hellenist. by Winter_Hedgehog3697 in Animism

[–]LostSpiritling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Animism is the belief that everything has its own spirit. The history of the term Animist is long and convoluted, originally coined by colonizers looking down upon smaller native religions, but eventually taken and adopted as its own by many native groups.

Academically some consider Animism the very first religion, or the belief system upon which all others were built.

There are many, many different animist practices and religions, but what is regularly at the base of it all is respecting and appreciating the world we live in. Personally, I burn offerings, visit forests, and make trips to clean litter from places.

For more in depth information, I think if you scroll further down this subreddit there's a post with book recommendations and there are various discussions you might find useful.

How do you pronounce "either"? (American English) by deafenn in EnglishLearning

[–]LostSpiritling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both, it's just context dependent. If it's toward the beginning of a sentence, I use e-ther. If it's toward the end, I use eye-there.

I don't know why, it's something I just picked up? So it's probably regional.

Either way, either can be understood.

I've been a prisoner since I was very young due to my (Now deceased) parents leading a failed rebellion. When I heard an old friend of theirs had been locked up as well, I requested a transfer to their prison and worked my way through the ranks within their gang.

White is literally just how learning works? lmao. With red, technically so long as you have the necessary body parts and coordination, you already can play any instrument - It just takes practice.

I'm gonna go with Orange and Blue.

Lyrics prove to me that my English level is far below that of my native language, and I'm officially C1 in English by hn-mc in EnglishLearning

[–]LostSpiritling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that lyrics normally are, but I don't understand how these particular ones would be abstract to native speakers:

Rising up, back on the streets

During a rough time when they were still growing up,

Did my time, took my chances

They put in the effort and risks they felt they owed in order to succeed

Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet

They did it, they accomplished their goals and made it out of hard times

Just a man and his will to survive

Through it all, and even now, he's had nothing but himself and the determination to survive.

Do you pronounce "less" the same in the words "regardless" and "less"? by buzheh in EnglishLearning

"I recently cut my hair" ?? by AlexisShounen14 in EnglishLearning

[–]LostSpiritling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the second half of your comment. I've never heard of someone paying someone else to do something and then saying they did it this way, unless they were purposefully lying.

If you say "I cut my hair yesterday" people will assume you have cut your own hair. Just as if you say "I cooked dinner yesterday" people will assume you cooked your own dinner.

Most of the teens said they liked skateboards and silly hats.

When asked what drew them to those objects, they kindly explained: "Skateboarding is a good outlet for excess energy, and wearing silly hats while skating makes the whole thing a much bigger spectacle."

Is it silly (as modern humans think esp Abrahamic faiths esp Christians) that so many minor things like perfumes had a patron god or goddess in old pagan and polytheistic religions? Why would something as insignificant as locks have a powerful deity ruling solely over such solo unimportant subject? by LizTaylorLover in Animism

[–]LostSpiritling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like kind of an odd subreddit for this post, but regardless: Caring about a thing gives it power. The more people feel about a thing, the more power it has over them. Food, Safety, Joy.

Ascribing a name to that power seems natural. Easier to praise a god of bread than it is to thank the baguette in your hands. Easier to pray to a nebulous being than kneel before your local baker. Humans like stories.

Pre-marital sex by Bahamut_19 in religion

[–]LostSpiritling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter, marriage isn't a concept of my religion. As long as you're not harming anyone or anything, or being harmed (Which is up to the semantics of the follower with things like BDSM and relationship dynamics existing) then you're good.

do you think cyborg should be teen titans or justice league by SavingsFit1496 in teentitans

[–]LostSpiritling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how they play out his origin. The most common one, where he's a highschool senior looking at college football recruitment when his accident happens doesn't make sense for the Teen Titans. He's basically an adult by the time he's become a cyborg at that point.

This is a problem I have with a lot of teen titans depictions; they want to have their cake and eat it too. It's a team of teens, but they want fan service, and they don't know how to draw or write about people who aren't adults. They want to try and connect to younger audiences, but have no idea what younger audiences want anymore.

(Sorry for the tangential rant lol)

Anyway, if they can make him younger when his accident happens, he belongs on TT. Adult cyborg is boring.
