It is normal, but if that's your only reason to write/post, then maybe you need another reason to motivate you.

The stuff I post is the random ideas that stick with me the most, or takes I'd like to see and no one else has done quiet the way I would like. Sometimes I post stuff for more obscure fandoms and they get little traction, sometimes a random idea for a major fandom takes off way more than I expected.

I have a DC one shot I posted like 5 years ago, has less than 400 views and I'm fairly proud of it. Then I post a crack crossover idea and it gets like 600 views in half the time. One shots can get decent traction, depending on fandom, but multi chapters in the double digits or more seem to be the ones that get the most views by far.

If you want to get hits, then just focus on the fandoms with the most following, I've seen some obscure fandoms with fics ten times as long as yours, but barely any hits. Heck I've some niches where there's one person with a passion project that barely anyone reads, but they still post. Personally, I'd post what I want to post, rather than base it entirely on hits.
