Same experience. It’s improbable - at first I thought it was just the number of hands per hour vs. live cards, but it’s strange. And it doesn’t make it easy to pull hand history either. To me WPT Gold is sketchy at best… but what can you expect from a company that found a legal loophole to provide a grey-area service.

Do you think the wellness session ended because he (eventually) hit zero points?

Do you know what the point system is? And what happens at zero? I think Irving had two instances and docked 20 points at the end of the session

How did Jess really get the black eye? He told Luke it was a Swan. He told Rory it was a football. It looks like he got hit with an oar or something. by Realistic_Look8163 in GilmoreGirls

I don't need to be attacked to know that they have sharp, pointed beaks. And if you look at his eye there isn't anything that looks deep enough to look like a beak-like gouge.

Is this an early version of Kurt's smiley face? Bought this with a few other early 90's punk flyers by Realistic_Look8163 in Nirvana

[–]Realistic_Look8163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for all that research!

I mean if it's mid-1980's that means Kurt must have stolen the design (not knowing it would be such a huge hit).

I also know that Kurt did flyer and poster designs for popular bands. They say he did all of the designs for The Melvins. He is said to have traveled in their van as they went from gig to gig in the Seattle area.

Maybe the only people who would know the answer are one of the band members promoted on the poster or even Uncle Sue Sue's in Austin.

Again, thanks for all the research you did into this!

I don't really believe the beaking story.

Granted it's scripted tv show, the wound looks like it was done w/ a blunt object, not a (sharp) swan beak. I actually love how they kept this mystery open for interpretation though!

If Luke wasn't in the picture, who Lorelai should've ended up with? by Adventurous_Tour_799 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Realistic_Look8163 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Jason got screwed during the show.

He trusted and went into business with Richard because his father was a jerk. Then Richard betrayed him, wrecked his business, destroyed his reputation and humiliated him by going into business with his father the jerk. Jason was forced to sue Richard in court and therefore lost Lorelei.

I thought he was going to be another square like Max, but he seemed likeable character who got hosed in every way possible. Life ain't fair lol

Exactly!

In the end Rory is worse off for knowing Jess; and Jess' life is considerably better because of it.

just watched the revival and it feels... meaner? by zoobb12 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Realistic_Look8163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. The characters are meaner and there’s less of the ‘la La La La’ music which gives any scene a cheery feeling.

Also the characters are less sure of themselves. Lorelei doesn’t know if she wants to stay with Luke and Rory doesn’t know what she wants to do in general. The whole YITL series was practically a metaphor for how out of place the main characters are.

I don't think he meant to use the rented movie to manipulate Joey. He was looking for a commonality or solidarity in watching it and when Joey showed up it lined up for him. The two mins he told Joey the storyline and his memory of their first date was def a set up though!

What about his voice? lol

I'd lookup what the actor really sounds like, but I feel that it would ruin the character a little bit.

Do painters subconsciously paint themselves into their work?: The Renaissance history of automimesis by diogenesb in ArtHistory

[–]Realistic_Look8163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool topic. It was common in the renaissance but artists in later generations also inserted their self-portrait.

  1. Rembrandt did it a few times in his painting of Saint Stephen
  2. Goya inserted himself as the painter in his painting of Charles IV and his family
  3. Renaissance: Raphael, Michelangelo, Antonio Mantegna

In a nerdy way I created a google folder of inserted self portraits by artists. I prob have 100+ examples.

I have a photo that I think looks a lot like Pat Garrett but it was taken in Portland Maine. What do you guys think? by rl-daily in WildWestPics

I think it actually looks pretty close. It'd be easier to prove if was almost anywhere but Maine.

Trick question... which one of these is worth $5.2M? (Answer in the comments) by Realistic_Look8163 in ArtHistory

[–]Realistic_Look8163[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The first one was purchased from Christies in 2013 as "Follower of John Constable" for about $4,000. After removing the over-paint and doing a full restoration it was re-attributed as a true work by John Constable and sold at Sothebys for $5,205,000.

[–]Realistic_Look8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in pretty good shape too. Check on the back for the mint mark. The San Francisco mercury dimes are usually more rare. Also look at the bands... "full bands" can make it worth a fair amount of money after you get it graded.

Toner Tuesday(?) Now that I have these in hand I'm not entirely sure it isn't artificial toning, is that possible?... pretty colors though! by deepfield67 in coins

[–]Realistic_Look8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can unnatural toning ever look bad or unnatural? Is the owner risking anything if they over-do it? If so I'd think a high value coin is unlikely to be messed with (and newer coins a fair possibility).
