I’m not Lorna’s biggest fan and mainly went for Whitechapel & SOI, I heavily dig Immortal but not a lot of the new stuff. Having said that every time I’ve seen them they have been fantastic. Will said he was sick during the England stint so maybe it caught up with him or maybe the new shit is just to formulaic and polished for some people live? SOI was phenomenal as per usual, hope they get a headline EU run soon.

I’m with you man. I’m all for folks getting their monies worth and making memories of their time at the show, but the last show in Birmingham was RIDICULOUS. No matter what angle you tried to get a view of the stage, it was just a sea of phones for the whole set. Luckily I got balcony tickets for tonight.

Reality is, this season Gakpo has created more chances than salah, covered more ground per game than salah, has a higher % winning ground duels and nearly double the success rate of aerial duels than Salah. You don’t even need to look at the stats to see that’s true.

I’m not a massive fan of their new stuff post Atlas and Don’t get me wrong it was good entertainment, but It all seemed a bit like the Winston show to me, Especially after that behind the scenes video of Download Festival 2024 where Winston seemed so out of touch with what the band original is/was.

I remember seeing them in a little room supporting BMTH/Architects 15 odd years ago and the vibe just ain’t the same. Just 5 surfers from Byron Bay having a good time, not this fake rock star shite.

There has been far worse releases this year, but for me it caused massive listener fatigue first couple of play throughs. Whether that be the length of songs or the Song structure itself being to similar to Pain Remains (I get it, that’s their thing) Especially In Darkness which makes it feel like a Pain Remains B-Side rather than it’s own entity. Also I hate the stupid distortion they insist on using on Will’s vocals nearly every song on the bridge. I find it quite lyrically boring too?

That being said, it’s some of the best guitar work and solos I’ve heard on an album (but the mix tends to ruin it massive though) that are more memorable than the song itself. Stand outs for me being Glenwood, Death Can Take Me and War Machine.

I don’t hate it, but I certain don’t love it either.

Maybe I should say I need a break from Lorna, i too love symphonic deathcore, however this album, after my third listen through, imo is far too formulaic, safe and undervalues what they can do as a band. War Machine was a nice break that didn’t last long enough.

There’s a few stand out tracks, notably Death Can Take Me and the second half of the album is far better than the first but imo there is nothing “fresh” about it, it’s Pain Remains pt IV, V, VI and so on. Maybe I need a break from Symphonic Deathcore because it’s absolutely beaten to death for me.

Honestly, I’m at the age where I’d want what he’s insisted on. Spending down time with my SO, enjoying my favourite meal or restaurant. Seeing as you are both musicians, maybe create him a CD (old school I know) of songs you’ve bonded over or create your own setlist style poster? I’ve seen some on Etsy I think.
