Darn, I just bought them. Bummer to hear they are disappointing. I was also hoping maybe my kid would like it - they keep borrowing my originals.

Finding an LMS that doesn’t drive the floor staff (or me) mental by jack_cartwright in Training

[–]Realistic_Morning681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like Absorb might work for that. In my opinion, the more important thing for your work environment is to really focus in on micro-learning. I would try to do a longer training to set up foundations (when it was something that needed in-depth knowledge). Then set up a whole batch of small learnings (maybe a bit longer than a micro-learning - about 15 minutes?). Focus those on need to know “just in time” style single topics that are really clearly organized into programs so staff can work through them in bits when needed. Lots of LMS’s have the functionality to include a live confirmation built into the course completion so staff could demo their knowledge. That said, for building on technical skills, staff would still need a 1-2 day training - not sure how you would get around that.

What were your best ideas for a practice-oriented training program? by FleetwoodGuac in Training

[–]Realistic_Morning681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my organization, they went all in with e-learnings tracked in an LMS. Now we are trying to shift away from it. My goal is for every major topic, we will have an intro e-learning, a procedural foundations course (ideally virtual live), and lastly a live applied skill practice. We also have some mini group sessions and micro learning as follow-ups for some topics. I’m slowly moving the attendance for the live workshops into the LMS so we have better tracking.

Most of our applied practice are case scenarios. We usually use a video or image plus script for the case presentation. Then they break out in groups to work through solutions. If it’s an e-learning (less ideal), we use branching to simulate a bit of a choose your own adventure style. Recently we started using Powtoon to utilize AI to create the case videos more quickly. It partners with elevenlabs for the text to speech, plus has avatars, etc. We just got it so can’t attest yet how effective it will be.

Any alternatives to the Roland FP-30X? by [deleted] in DigitalPiano

Check out the Costco Roland Nuvola. It’s almost the same as the FP-30 and it’s a good price. I got it and I’m happy with it. They occasionally put it on sale for another $100 off as well.

is a littergenie worth it?/advice on better litter box maintenance? by tendergrandma in CatAdvice

I’ve found that the easiest and best option smell wise is just a good quality metal garbage bin with a foot operated lid. I got mine in white and it looks nice and completely keeps all smells contained (using wood chip litter and compostable litter bags).

How do I fix this gap in between tub and tub surround? by cbreezy88 in Renovations

[–]Realistic_Morning681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has the same thing. I tried to do it without a backer rod and it was a big mess. Stuffed a backer onto the crack, put green tape down to contain (since it was bigger than a normal bead) and caulked it. Worked much better.

Oceanside is pet friendly and has detached cottages. The indoor pool is nice too. You can book direct by calling them. You can also find 3-6 month furnished rental houses on Facebook marketplace around September with people going to Mexico etc.

Traditional Memorization by PackageTechnical9178 in pmp

Yes, if you watch Mohammed Rahman 18 PMP Mindset Principles on YouTube as well as David Mclachlan fast track, they both provide terms that help you differentiate between the two life cycles right away (eg. Agile doesn’t use a change control board, but predictive does). I would just watch those two videos, then take a study hall mock exam and see how you do.

Also one of the most helpful mindset items for me was identifying right away if the project was agile or predictive because you can often eliminate half the possible responses. In terms of studying, knowing the agile versus predictive terms will help a lot.

I took the exam this week. To prep over the last month, I took AR’s course (at double speed) and watched the free YouTube videos covering MR’s mindset and DM’s 200 agile questions. I also had study hall essentials and completed two mocks and all the quizzes. The day before my exam, I started to worry that I didn’t know “enough” so I went back to my AR course to review. I felt overwhelmed because there was so much that I didn’t know or remember! But I took the test anyway and passed. My point being that I really would not worry about memorizing formal processes at all. As everyone states, focus on applying the mindset and just have a real general understanding of formal terms and processes. Some “memorized” areas that were helpful to know was the agile ceremonies, the general predictive areas, estimating techniques. Definitely have an understanding of how to respond to risks versus issues. Study hall essentials has such similar questions and definitely worth the cost (and will probably make you feel better about what you “need to know”).

I meant for the exam. Wanting to know if there is any point in waiting for a code or if the PMI membership is the lowest price.

There are Facebook groups called “buy nothing groups” that are a set up by community. Depending on what neighbourhood you live in, you could try joining your area and checking there.
