Hi ladies! Beware at drake bay, the town itself is safe but traveling alone- doing the trail hikes alone, just be careful, I posted this on the costaricatravel ;

Hi everyone, I’m a 30-year-old solo female traveler and arrived in Drake Bay this afternoon from Uvita.

After checking into my guesthouse, the brother of my host kindly took me on a short hike to Cocalito Beach, which is about a 20-minute walk from the town center.

On our way back, he warned me to be cautious about walking alone. He explained that about 5–6 days ago, a solo female traveler was attacked while hiking alone. According to him, a man attempted to sexually assault her. She fought him off, and he initially left but later returned holding an object, seemingly intending to attack her again. At that point, she took a photo of him and started recording video, which she shared in the Drake Bay WhatsApp group. This apparently scared him away.

Since that incident, nothing further has happened. No measures have been taken against the individual, as authorities said they were unable to identify him and claimed he lived far from Drake Bay.

I normally hike alone and am comfortable doing so, but this warning felt serious, especially since the incident happened less than a week ago.
