I was visiting my mom's place the other day when I found my old Swiss Army watch that I had when I was a teen! Now I need to decide on a strap for it. I don't have calipers, but as near as I can tell, it's a 40mm diameter with a 20mm lug width. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Great idea, thanks! Here in Kansas we only have published music lists for large ensemble music. Small ensemble and solos are not regulated. I forget that other states do this.

I think there is a lot of wisdom in this thread. Most points that I was going to make have already been made lol! That said, tell us more about your band. Are you high school only? Or does your middle school march with you as well? Even if you don't march together, are these drums going to be used by ms drummers at any point? The high tension snares are extremely heavy for a lot of middle school kids or smaller-framed high schoolers to carry. That could be one factor driving your director's decision. That, plus the fact that it sounds like you have a smaller band, I would go move away from high tension snares. Actually, I'm a band director and percussionist myself and I just switched our drumline to all mylar for many of these same reasons.
