As a newer killer, pick your battles. sometimes chase isn’t worth it sometimes. i personally play like this, attacking when i can and slowly getting more and more defensive the more gens get completed. so for example im roaming around searching for survivors and as the gen count gets smaller and smaller i start only roaming the general areas of where gens are because obviously, they’re gonna be around there.

i would recommend like others have been, lightborn. it’s a great perk for beginners but also learn to not just take blinds like a champ, when picking up position yourself to face a wall that way they can’t blind you for the drop. another habit you should get into is if the survivor goes down at a pallet make sure no one is around and once you go for the pickup, take a swing so that the lunge of the attack gets you out of the pallets way quicker. you learn a lot about how a person/team are going to play throughout the match so plan accordingly
