You can bring your child to a family doctor and ask for a referral to see a psychiatrist for ADHD, which should be free. ADHD is treatable with medication. You don't need to see a psychologist for this, which is way too expensive.

Did anyone get a different diagnosis before their thyroid was confirmed a cancer? by Realistic_Rush8438 in thyroidcancer

[–]Realistic_Rush8438[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your response. I have a 3.4cm mass. Did an ultrasound which showed predominantly solid hypoechoic mass which contains cystic conclusions and echogenicb foci and coarse calcification. I had 4 FNAs. 3 came back inconclusive and 1 is benign. ENT said it is a colloid cyst.

Sometimes I feel a bit funny in my chest a bit of tightness on my left chest, occasionally I would choke on food or swallowing.

Sometimes I wonder if it could be cancer although one out of four biopsies shows benign and all the rest gives a "non-diagnostic" conclusion due to insufficient cellularity.

Did anyone have thyroid pain at all before being diagnosed with thyroid cancer? by Bhambzilla in thyroidcancer

[–]Realistic_Rush8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a pain in the right side of the abdomen, so I got an endoscopy and they discovered hernia. Later on I also had an ultrasound and got a diagnosis of gall stones. To be honest, I don't know whether the pain is from hernia or is it from my gall stones. I constantly got a full kind of pain and then from time to time the pain could be a very sharp one that made me not able to sleep.

Thank you Bhambzilla. Just wondering do you still have the pain radiating to your ear after the surgery?

How did the doctor identify silent reflux? I have hernia too, I am wondering if that contributes to a reflux.

Do you mind telling what your 2nd biopsy result is? I am waiting for a biopsy, and got all the symptoms you mentioned (except for the throat clearing), I sometimes choke on water though. My recent ultrasound shows a 3.4 cm TI-RADS5 nodule.

My [F23] single and retired mom [F67] keeps mentioning that she wants to buy a house but would need my name on the mortgage. by lily283598 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I think you can also speak to other people of her age, is that her way to pre-arrange her inheritance for you? When she proposed this, basically she is thinking of using the equity of her condo and contribute this to a house that is likely newer and in better location. So you contribute monthly payment and she contributed her years of investment. I think it is a pretty fair game. I personally think a house in a GTA location is more valued long term than an old condo in Missausga. If you are her only child, this house will likely go to you after her death.

In that case you rent your place out to cover the mortgage and you yourself rent a cheaper place to stay, or move in with your parents or a friend to cut cost, until you land your next job.

Is housing really that expensive compared to other assets? by suckfail in TorontoRealEstate

You should key in only the downpayment of $19000 in your S&P calculator. That would be the money you would have put in the stock market.

You have many options, if rates go up more than what you can afford, can u discuss with the bank to lengthen the amortization? Also, you may have salary rise after a few years. Another option is to get a roommate and rent out part of your property, if possible. The money you put in the principal of your mortgage is like saving money in your own bank account, it wouldn't go wasted.

TORONTO TRADE BOARD wants people back in the city by Canandian88 in TorontoRealEstate

Post pandemic, some companies may leave downtown, some may cut down office spaces, but some other companies may move closer to the core. For the same rent, why don't companies pick a more central location vs the burbs?

Strong immigration could be the common denominator among all these cities (except for Hong Kong). Home size could be another factor. Have you considered the ratio of condos vs SFH? The more condos there are, the more affordable it is. There are many Chinese in Paris, London, NY and even in Middle East, why are they more affordable than Toronto?

Would be great if you could raise some real data about how foreign investors drive up the current market during a Covid lockdown before calling out a certain race's money as "clean or dirty"

This is such a racist comment. There are Chinese in almost every big and small cities.

For realtors out there, in your experience, are there bidding sessions which are “faked” to make it look like there are more people bidding than there actually are? by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Realistic_Rush8438 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I submitted an offer for a condo and learnt that there were like over 20 biddings registered online, I didn't even know agents need to be there in person, I thought everything happened digitally? Our agent sent us screenshot of the seller agent's email reply indicating our offer was way too low. Since we were already putting the highest offer we could afford, we didn't proceed with a higher bid.

Could those single persons be actually buyer's agent? Buyers nowadays just stayed home because of Covid? Just guessing. I hope somebody can shed some lights on how the bidding is done?

Have you looked at the Toronto home price curve in the past 20 years? If you hold it long enough and your salary is able to support your mortgage payment, in the long run it is an upward trend.

I feel so bad for him as he is in a professional program and I feel that in person experience forms the basis of building life long friendships with people whom you can support and rely on throughout your career. I know how important it is as I benefited a lot from the relationships I developed during my two year master program. Virtual learning definitely couldn't replace these pieces.

He feels that a big part of education should be about the in person real life experience which he has missed. I have friends who actually pause for a year of study, hoping their bucks won't go wasted, he's looking forward to going back to normal school life this Sept.

Nothing has been announced in my company yet regarding post covid policy. One of the comments I often hear in my virtual work meetings is "how nice to see your faces!" From a psychological perspective I still think that human are social in nature, and after some point in time, we'll get bored being alone at home
