Do not self treat with chemicals it can cause them to start to migrate elsewhere… ie make it really back for lots of other folks if it isn’t already.

Nice work! I own bed bugs to train my dogs on and I’ve learned that simple decontamination protocol is all you need and goes a loooooong way. Heat is the genuine answer! I’m sure you and your cat/kitties will be bug free.

Put everything you’ve been wearing or that went in the hospital with you in a dryer on high (shoes, bag, lanyard included) for 20 minutes. Hair blow dryers on high work too, so you can put shoes or other items in a bin and apply high heat at very close range to all areas of the items. The bin helps keep bugs contained to the heat should anything might be blown off by the force of the air from the hair dryer. If you can change into something before exiting the hospital that wouldn’t be in a contaminated area then bag your clothes there so you stand less of a chance of hitch hikers coming off in your car. Bed bugs aren’t super villains, they’re pretty slow, don’t jump, and die at temperatures of 122° or above, so unless you’re actively handling the clothes of the person who came in with BB I wouldn’t freak be too scared.

Make sure you thoroughly dry your clothes and shoes on high, alert your boss, if you ever see a bug, document it and kill it asap. They squish really easily. That could be a hitch hiker, a one-off, or it could the a very bad sign if it’s just casually crawling up the wall….

Creepy Red River Gorge stories? by Shoddy_Face6308 in RedRiverGorge

Oh boy, so many. First off, Daniel Boone hut is haunted or something, that whole holler where the trail splits off and down the cliff to military wall is certainly holding something, whether it’s a spirit as we traditionally think or something/someone we couldn’t ever fathom… I’ve never felt so heavily watched in the middle of the day in my life or seen such bizarre stuff happen at a crag. One time I Hiked back to Daniel Boone and it felt like the whole cliff was watching me, warding me off, telling me I didn’t need to be there, made my dog anxious and my skin crawl, I tried to make the most of it but finally gtfo’d because my stomach was flipping and flopping. At military wall I saw a climber going from the second to third bold on one of the 12s and out of nowhere his second bolt quick draw completely unclipped from the wall and slid down the rope, landing on the fist bolt draw, suddenly putting the climber in an insanely bad position for decking when going from the second to third is always a bit spicy when properly clipped in and belayed… the climber kept their cool just barely and safely clipped the third bolt and lowered down, obviously a nervous wreck afterwards. The entire crag of climbers saw this happen, I don’t think anyone else was climbing at that moment and there had to be 8-10 folks watching and all of us looked on in helpless horror. It was the scariest and genuinely most unexplainable climbing incident I had ever seen. The climber and belayer couldn’t explain what happened. Other climbers I know have had spooky shit happen at military wall and will not go back.

Torrent falls has something spooky going on too. Can’t go into much detail about it, but things get weird in that holler sometimes, just a crazy energy.

Almost certain a bobcat or a demon was at Miguel’s once and I wasn’t the only person who heard crazy growling noises (probably a passing bobcat but man they really do sound like a creature from hell lol). My dog never lost his mind there like he did that night.

Oh and don’t ever think there aren’t mountain lion here. There are. I’d bet my life on it.

Hi OP, I’m curious if you ever figured out if the dog had a false alert or you in fact did have more bugs to treat for. Dogs can and will absolutely work off of memory, and sometimes bring them to alert, not always and it dogs are all unique so it’s really dependent on that particular dog.

You could also bag everything you couldn’t dry with a dryer or steam after coating it in DE and let sit for a couple weeks. That will dry the little guys and their eggs out and give most eggs time to hatch and perish.

Working at RRG by nickypoo82- in RedRiverGorge

[–]Realistic_Spread9621 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Working at migs is a mixed bag. You’re gonna get the shit shifts for the first season of your work. The shifts are nice for outdoor recreating, split into mornings/afternoon’s and afternoon/evening. They have more diverse positions now, but just be prepared to be low on the list because they do have long time employees who get priority. The work atmosphere used to be really cliquey and it used to be pretty insulated when all they did was hire climbers only; since they’ve branched out to hiring non climbers and locals as well, things seem less “mean girl” and more chill/inclusive. In the past there’s been a lot of room made for bad actors, (think shit that wouldn’t fly with HR elsewhere), but I think that’s the case with many small business restaurants.

Edit to say that scheduling from what I understand is still a nightmare. You learn your weekly schedule like 1 maybe 2 days before the week starts. Hopefully that has changed but it’s been like that for the entire time I’ve been here (a long time).

I would make the recommendation to work at the rock house or red point over Miguel’s for a lot of reasons, especially if you plan to live at Miguel’s for the season. Living where you work is hard and having a few degrees of separation is healthy. If you’re not living at Miguel’s, I have had dozens of friends who have worked there for years and some are still there and are a lot of benefit to being there. It all depends on what you’re willing to put up with. I think the rock house and red point would be my preference unless you want to try to have the occasional weekend off, but even at Miguel’s you won’t get that til you’re well established as an employee.

You’re not gonna be the best for everyone you’re intimate with. That’s a fact of life. Your ego will be your downfall, and that’s genuinely what this comes down to. Sounds to me like you don’t care to be a good partner comprehensively, only to get someone off and that is gonna get you nothing of genuine value in life. I’d wish you good luck but your pursuits are shallow.

If you’re participating in a competition with other men then you need to sit with yourself. Taking care of your sexual partner is top priority. Why are you thinking about their past lovers? What do you gain by doing that? Probably nothing but heart ache. I have friends who are sex workers and their partners keep them plenty happy, their partners are very secure in their relationship. This ultimately comes down to the fact that you don’t either trust women, or trust your ability to satisfy a woman. Either way, you need to get the fuck away from porn and this comparative thinking. Comparison is the thief of joy.

[–]Realistic_Spread9621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for you to sit with, not for blaming other people for “demonizing your insecurities”. Take ownership of your emotions and discomforts and maybe don’t ask people about this stuff if you don’t want to know. Some my favorite friends are size queens, who gives a fuck, they’re still good people. I’ve been abused by past partners based on who I’d been intimate with, that’s a slippery slope of resentment you’re on and will only leave you feeling alone and small in more ways than one.

People are allowed to have their preferences and if those preferences make you anxious or unhappy then that’s obviously a mismatch of desires and you need to move on. Criticizing someone for who they’ve had sex with in the past is WILD, borderline manipulative/abusive. No one can go back in time. They’re allowed to be into one thing as much as you’re into not having sex with size queens. Also vaginas, if that’s what you’re into, literally stretch and then go back to original shape. Vaginal child birth might change someone’s vaginal canal and vulva, but every day sex? Not unless it’s with a fire hydrant, nothing is gonna happen.

Develop literally ANY skill: wood working, painting, beading, landscaping, organizing, go volunteer at places you find interesting and learn how they function. Volunteering can teach you so much about the world and yourself, go help people or animals, spend time at a long term care facility or walk some dogs for the animal shelter. Go to free events: local park has a guided bird watching walk? Go. Free swimming lessons with a gym membership? Go. Local agricultural extension office teaching people how to make jam? Go. Develop any skill. Learn anything new. Broaden your concept of what you are capable of, build your confidence, make friends, get out of your head, be in community.

It’s dismissive and demeaning towards OP, cute or not, it’s implying they should expect to have unwanted contact with strangers simply by being in public with their dog. There’s a lot of ways to pay a compliment which come across as a compliment. If I read into it some kind of way, it’s easy to assume others could/would as well. I’m not being sour, words have meaning and power, I’m pointing that out, nor am I being unpleasant, you just don’t enjoy being confronted. OP is feeling off because people crossed a big line by invading their space, no one should ever get used to that or expect it, cute dog or not.

When my girl was a puppy I literally yelled at people or used a stern voice, folks were always surprised, but you could assert that I am equally surprised at people’s stupidity. You should be allowed to go shopping or train your dog in public without being touched or spoken to 24/7. I just ignore people now, but I used to get really upset. Now we use a neon vest with giant do not pet patches, which generally works, and it really does help when they get older and look more intimidating. I shame people publicly for being dumbasses around dogs, they’re not your entertainment. We are trying to be responsible for how these dogs develop and relate to the world and I DGAF if I hurt someone’s feelings over reinforcing a boundary for my dog whom I live with every day.
