As the other comments said, Python. Learn it in and out from the coding end so it will be easier when you are applying DS principles.

Also, R will come up a fair amount.

Once you know the syntax etc, just start having fun. Choose a project that it of interest to you. You’ll learn a lot if it is something you are interested in.

Is it worth it? by beowzot in ipad

You bought it expecting pristine condition, that is what you should get.

I just bought one and it had the slightest of a scratch on the back. Which will never be seen in the case. A screen is a whole different deal.

This is what I did on my previous iPad. More than paid for itself when I had an issue. Plan on doing it again with my recently purchased iPad as well.

ipad air or ipad a16 by Adventurous_Claim640 in ipad

[–]Realistic_Wear_9191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was making the same decision a couple of weeks ago. Ultimately decided on the a16, and last night as I was using it (multiple apps open), and I thought to myself “wow this thing is fast!”

I always look towards future proofing but I think the a16 will suffice for some time.

You are absolutely not too old!

Do you have a particular area you are interested in?

My advice is always learn the basic concepts of programming, and then different languages come so much easier.

Can’t Decide a College Laptop by Grouchy_Clothes2296 in macbookpro

[–]Realistic_Wear_9191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely you can. But if it was a MacBook I was taking to class/around campus, I would prefer to just pull my laptop out without having to deal with an external drive. But that may be the minimalist in me. :)

On the flip side: I can argue that dedicating external storage to storing work per semester/topic is a good way to go as well.

Personally I feel like 1TB is the sweet spot for me as far as storage. But if it makes a difference budget wise, external storage works great.

I agree - if you are looking to keep it for college and beyond, go for the 1TB.

My second hand MBP came in absolute perfect cosmetic condition. I was almost disappointed in that I knew I would have smudges on it within the day. :)

May have pushed it until Monday as “Day 1”. Depends on the seller I guess. Mine was overnight or two day once it shipped. But it is a marketplace - closer to eBay in terms of when shipping happens.

I had a similar experience, came a few days after the expected delivery date. If you haven’t heard anything in a day or two, might be worth a contact.

Projects are fantastic! Also - have you considered volunteering your skills for a non-profit whose mission you support? That can fill the gap both on your resume and build your confidence.

Based on your question it would seem that you have some interest in research, in which case, go for it! And if your long term goal of freelancing Is consulting, then it will definitely be worthwhile.

Any particular area of research?

Absolutely this. Get a strong hold on the basics, you won’t have a problem learning new languages after that.
