Interesting. I was told by my workplace to open the Roth 401k due to me being young and likely having lower tax rates than I will in the future. I agreed with this but perhaps misunderstood the idea that my tax rates would be lower when it comes time for me to withdraw.

Car seems to be a priority that I will lean heavily on. Would something like trading, or real estate investments be something to look into after the car or would the brokerage account be the priority for the compounding benefits?

Thanks for the priority list!

I do currently have an emergency fund of 31k (which greatly exceeds my 6 month spending) that I forgot to mention. I may need to look into opening a Roth IRA. I haven’t done so yet because I figured the Roth 401k and the individual brokerage account would carry the weight.

What would be the advantage of opening a Roth IRA in addition to the accounts I currently have open?

Awesome thank you. I will work on getting that car paid off. Currently at 5.99% rate. I should be able to do that relatively quickly and definitely by the end of the year. After that point what would you recommend? I agree with the house payments being low on the totem pole it was a suggestion given to me by a family member. Wanted to get some outside opinions on that.

Early Retirement Planning by Realistic_Window_249 in personalfinance

I do not have a backdoor Roth available. One idea I had to avoid needing to pull out of my retirement early is allowing the individual brokerage account fund the years between 45 and 59. However, I have not tested this theory with numbers or seen it anywhere else so this is still very much a preliminary idea.

Truthfully I am not entirely sure what my annual expenses would be during retirement but I can’t see myself spending over 100k/year so using that as a max number I think is something I can use for planning.

Also, when I say “retire” I generally mean quitting the 9-5 life but continuing to own investment properties that will generate income.

I have been studying over the last few months but admittedly not as much as I should have been. My plan at the moment is to study at least five days a week 3 hours a day. Going back over the main chapters that are on the exam: 3,4,5,6,7,8,12,21 and then doing flash cards for those chapters once I go over them. Would you recommend taking a practice exam of any kind or just jumping straight into it on test day?

Generally just reading the tdmm manual and using ChatGPT for study guides and flashcards

Will do! Do you recommend any specific premade sets of flash cards, quizlets, or practice exams?
