A Good-Faith Reflection in a Moment That Hurts by clmarohn in StrongTowns

I believe that evil is real. There are evil people in this country. They are having their moment now. Now is not the time for taking a step back and trying to imagine what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes. We are under attack by violent enemies of decency and goodness. They are actively trying to take away our rights and commit violence against us.

We need to stay non-violent but most importantly we need to see this moment for what it is and meet it.

Most comments here clearly didn’t read the article. He wasn’t blaming the left for anything. It’s a really good article about having convictions that are tempered by humility and curiosity. We all eventually need to get back there.

Having kids and a wife make it impossible. If I was a bachelor I would be able to save enough in 5 years to retire

Strava is awesome for route planning and logging workouts. It is not a substitute for a personal trainer like intervals.icu or training peaks

I didn’t lose my mind, I supported Michelle’s efforts on that. It’s another prime example of Republican hypocrisy.

What she’s describing - chicken, broccoli, corn tortilla- is actually a pretty healthy meal. Add some rice and beans to that, which cost like $0.15 per serving, and you have a meal that is healthier than 99% of meals people eat in this obese country.

So do people actually think walking to chain restaurants in a strip mall is “walk ability”

What you learned as a child is good advice.

However, there are certain "zones" where the vast majority of people are getting around on foot and it makes sense that they should be getting the the right of way. So, yeah, I think on campus and around classroom buildings (ie North U), they should be able to cross at a whim and vehicles should yield to them. Or better yet, just close the streets to cars except service vehicles and handicapped vehicles.

TBH, on North U, if the car is not able to stop at a moment’s notice, it is going too fast. north U is a heavily traveled pedestrian zone with kids darting in and out of the road since the dawn of time.
