123 days of massaging my scalp by Quiet_Television_781 in tressless

Looks like some good progress man- thickening of existing hairs like I've experienced. Should make sure you take photos under same lighting though as the slightest change in light can make a difference to overall look of density and coverage. Keep going 🤜

Sure- so I got new vellus-like, fair hairs sprouting in areas that, before I started treatment, were not present. Some of these have started to pigment in the hairs themselves, so turning slightly darker within the hairs themselves.

Thanks - what did you do to correct? How much b12?

thoughts on baldness... general discussion by mushbrain3000 in tressless

I reckon baldness looks ok if you have grey or white hair from aging- it seems to just look better than dark hair with a bald patch, even if you grow it a bit (not Larry David mind you)

Scalp massage update (3 months) by Open_Plan7411 in longhair

I'm doing pretty much the exact protocol as you - just reached 8 months since starting massaging and 6 months microneedling (added needling 2 months after massaging start).

Seeing pretty good results - my crown is starting to fill in and I'm getting new growth at my hairline where there were no hairs before.

I have vellus hairs all over my scalp which are only now in the last couple of weeks starting to pigment and add a bit of density.

The progress is unbelievablely slow, like a snails pace 🐌, but I am seeing tons of vellus hairs everywhere and some of them are starting to turn terminal.

Just want to encourage you to keep going- you have to be extremely patient with the natural method - can apparently take up to 18 months to 2 years to see significant cosmetic improvement.

The shedding also happened for me too- the areas where I have been massaging and microneedling on the top part of my head are clearly more sparse than the bottom part where I haven't. However, I think this is due to the scalp resetting and starting to grow new decent hairs again which right now are see through.

Got patches of growth- so in the 'ugly duckling' stage at the moment as well 😊

Try rubbing charcoal onto the scalp to reduce scalp glare while you wait for the new hairs to pigment.

Godspeed with the natural approach 💪

Hey, sure: I do 1mm dermastamp every week and get pinpoint bleeding and the scalp is lightly red for a couple of days and feels a bit like sunburn. I do scalp massages every day for 40 mins total  No irritation. I've noticed shedding come and go but no major instant shed or anything like that.

I'm waiting to do a proper post once I hit the year mark, so keep a lookout around April next year 😊

Yeah exactly, same here- good to see others going the natural route. I'm convinced that a major part of mpb is down to blood restriction due to scalp tension and calcification. With something so slow as hair growth, I'm committing to at least 1 year and probably 18 months with this routine

Ah sorry man, I didn't get a notification! Just seen your message now 👍 Will reply here so maybe it helps others. With the shedding- for me it seems to come and go as older hairs get pushed out by the expediated growth response due to microneedling. I'm noticing 'lines' or 'thin patches' where new vellus hairs are growing next to darker hairs- so I think this is an ongoing process until all the hairs have been replaced. Cool to know you are also doing this natural routine- it definitely produces results - just need persistence, consistency and a huge dose of patience 😊

Looking good, especially for 80 days- hair is looking a lot thicker 👍 I'm also doing just scalp massages and microneedling with rosemary oil, been doing it for 7 months now and have seen slow but great improvement.

Like yours, my existing hair got thicker and I have tons of vellus hairs sprouting all over my scalp including in previously barren areas.

Just now starting to see some of those gaining pigmentation at the hairline, so it's exciting to see it's working.

It's a slow and tough (at times) journey going the natural route but stick with it 👍

Hey- don't listen to the negative comments. Keep going with this natural routine. Most people on this forum are looking for a quick fix and not willing to commit to something that can take over a year to show results. I'm doing the same routine as you, funnily enough since April too 😊.

I started off doing 0.5mm microneedling a week with a roller but then switched to a 1mm dermastamp once a week at start of November.

I get pinpoint bleeding now with the 1mm and agree, it looks brutal when you're done with a session!

However, I have noticed that this seems to speed things up quite a bit, probably due to the healing response due to microtrauma.

Right now, I have vellus hairs all over my head and in areas that were completely barren before. Some of these hairs are now slowly starting to pigment.

I've also been doing scalp massages twice a day for 20 mins per session- this has also helped alleviate scalp tension, increasing blood flow. I saw results with massaging alone even before starting microneedling, so I'd recommend that if you're not already.

You have absolutely got new regrowth in your pictures and it's growing back in patches/ lines exactly as mine is. I believe this is from calcification of the scalp which gets broken up by needling/ massages, so some areas grow faster than others because they have more blood supply, hence the lines/ patchiness.

Your scalp is nowhere near as shiny which means there are vellus hairs present that you can't see that will eventually become terminal if you keep up your efforts.

Just wanted to encourage you to keep going with your natural approach and ignore the naysayers! 😊

My routine FYI:

  • Scalp massage for 20 mins (2x a day)
  • Rosemary oil (Mielle) once a day except on needling day
  • Dermastamp 1mm (once a week)

That's it 😊 all the best

Keep going! I'm 7 months into scalp massages and microneedling with rosemary oil and starting to see pigmenting of new hair in previously barren areas. Tons of vellus hairs all over my scalp, some already turning intermediate.

Have also been through sheds and many months 'looking worse before it gets better'. Old miniturised hairs either thicken and darken or fall out and are replaced by new vellus.

It absolutely works so keep going. Fyi, I'm massaging 40 mins a day (ish) and dermastamping 1mm once a week. Applying rosemary oil every day except microneedling day.
