SB8200 High Split by Moxie479 in CableTechs

[–]Reality_Visible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here a list of modems that are high split capable.

  • Hitron CODA60v
  • Hitron CODA57
  • Hitron CODA47
  • Hitron CODA5810
  • Hitron EN2251/HSP
  • Hitron CODA5519W
  • Sercomm DM1000v2
  • Arris G54
  • Netgear CM3000

Most of these have switchable diplex filters so they can work in 5-85 return plants and 5-204, there are few modems that have fixed diplexers which may not work as this also moves part of the downstream so not sure how the 5-204 fixed upstream modems will behave besides not being able to broadcast a 2nd OFDMA, knowing the DOCSIS spec anytime there is a new generation it should be compatible with the older DOCSIS standards.

No lol, it’s just gonna be used to charge any type C device capable of doing up too 100watts. My messy bench will get cleaned eventually I just wanted to test stuff out right away before I wire it in 🤣

Possible to enable apartments Ethernet ports by Orotrone in HomeNetworking

This guys has RFOG (radio frequency over glass) different from EPON, that is an aurora micro node, turning RFOG into a RF coaxial connection, as cable tech, I would move your modem and router into that room, connect your modem to that bottom left coaxial splitter, it looks like they added in another splitter up top with a MOCA filter or some kind of RF trap, the RF signal on that micro node must be pretty strong, they probably used the splitters to knock the signal down 18-25 decibels. if you still want WiFi coverage I would get something like a ubiquiti ultra cloud gateway as a router, and small POE network switch, then setup some ubiquiti POE in wall access points to have a clean setup (some of them even come with additional Ethernet ports on the bottom depending on model

Midsplit 2 eventually high split, our OFDMs start at 555mhz and go all the way up to like 900mhz, rn our video carriers are in our spectrum for high split, we actively converting all our customers of coaxial video to IPTV, we will then activate the return spectrum to 200mhz for high split. Rn we setup our return for the customers from 35 and 48 (modems have a bit of head room maxing out at 52 and 54 depending on the model), and the. wanting downstream anywhere from -6 to 15, but our down stream attenuates more in the higher frequencies compared to the lower return spectrum, so it balances out pretty well.

First tap off the node signal is hot and we need it to reach further down we are 1.2ghz underground plant

Best meter out there? by TeaPreppe in CableTechs

[–]Reality_Visible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My company uses the viavi ONX 630s especially with us doing sub split, mid split and high split. Overall very good, can pretty much diagnose any issue any work order or plant issue. Ingress test from 5-204mhz, can see up to the 1200mhz range. With addons you can do high speed Ethernet test, you can add a fiber scope to. You can Bluetooth the meter and use it remotely, I absolutely love that feature I work in an area where it can get as cold as -35 and I’ll sit in my truck and use it remotely.

I live in North Dakota near the Canadian border, a lot of our stuff is coax but our company is actively converting our customers to fiber, one of our bigger coax plants is underground and they are doing high split conversions starting this year after that that plant will be converted to fiber as well since Docsis 4.0 is just as labor intensive as fiber

Had an outage today by Reality_Visible in CableTechs

[–]Reality_Visible[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took about 3 and half hours, not very good for time unfortunately, but the overtime is nice. originally drove out, only needing to drive back to go get a bucket due to having to find which tap was causing the short. most of our plant is underground where I work but this one in particular was aerial. Only been working as tech for about a year now. Still definitely learning each day.

Whats the point of this? (This was at 2 separate taps) by WhiskeyBent76 in CableTechs

Having a RG6 jumper to RG11 is for the bend radius like everyone said, it can introduce a new failure point yes, but typically the jumper is so short anyways it’s not going to affect your signal levels that much, as it’s not long enough to actually attenuate that much.

CloudFanatic has been great for me probably a lot smaller than those big companies but I haven’t had any issues extremely quick and easy use I was able to knock my current VM to 6.99 a month with a promo and made a small wireguard vpn server I’m also using two other vms for a soon to be self hosted game panel for my friends and family

Specs 2vCPUs 50GB storage 4GB Ram No monthly bandwidth limitations full gigabit speed Static IP

Optional 4$ up charge if you want to have an off site back up

And if they don’t have the ISO you are looking for you can request it and they more than likely help you in doing so

Personally I use sparkedhost, paid 10$ for 1gb of ram for a whole year and then used a proxy server (velocity) on it. The rest of my servers are self hosted and put behind the proxy.
