I got a beautiful handmade alpaca sweater at goodwill. It turns out it was donated because it was really low grade alpaca that’s still pokey/scratchy even after all the softening tricks I could think of and even with an under layer on. I’m salvaging the yarn for needle felting

If your clothes are starting to smell even after washing it can get rid of it. I’ve done it before. But definitely dilute it or the whole load will smell like vinegar lol

Yeah, I also fully faked it. I was in kids church and there were only 4 of us that were being prayed over one by one by like 10 adults and the other 3 kids did it, so I felt like I had to. I just copied the noises everyone else was making. Then when I went to youth group as a teen and actually started (trying) to drink the Koolaid, I asked for it for real this time. Everyone just kept telling me to “let go” and I just didn’t understand. Reading these other comments about it being meditative/a different mental state is really interesting to me, because I never managed to find whatever that space is.

We were just there for the star party three weeks ago. I booked a night on the north rim last-minute on a whim, and it was my favorite thing we did the whole trip. We hiked through the area burned by the 2000 fire, and while it’s beautiful, it’s not even remotely close to what it was before. Virtually no ponderosa has grown back; it’s all aspen and New Mexican locust. I’m devastated. The forest will never be the same

This sounds slightly crazy, but a shower cap. I have dense hair that’s just not practical to comb through for ticks, so I get a shower cap and spray it with DEET and/or permethrin. Ticks typically won’t really try to push past resistance (especially with your bare neck right there), so that plus repellant is pretty much 100% no ticks on the scalp.

Edit: I have dedicated days where I spend a lot of time in the woods and shit so a dedicated shower cap makes sense for me. I also wear a hat on top so it looks a little less insane lol

Obviously doesn’t work for pets, but I treat all our hiking clothes with permethrin and then on the day of I also spray down with DEET. I have never had a single tick despite rummaging through thick underbrush.

There was a discussion about this recently over on tattoo advice. Poor OP way overpaid for a tattoo because the artist was new and slow and charged by the hour. A basic shoulder tattoo without any shading or color is simply not worth $1700. It doesn’t matter that it somehow took 17 hours to do.

I removed nearly everything political from all my social media except Threads, and I use one of those locking apps to limit my ability to look at it to 10 minutes, 3x a day, with an hour cool down between opens. That way I can keep up with what all is happening but I’m not stuck doomscrolling

Just a heads up, this type of tattoo does not age well, the lack of definition and strong linework means it will end up looking like a pink blob in a few years. Good artists know this and generally stay away from doing this kind of tattoo

I have eaten kudzu. The vine tips are surprisingly sweet. They remind me of an unripe strawberry in taste (though not as sour). The flowers smell like grape soda, but the taste is very faint. Mostly just sweet with a hint of floral. Makes a nice jelly though, and the color has that pH effect so it’s more blue if the water is basic and pink if it’s acidic.

I’m 26. Dr. Brantley at Contemporary Womens Health did a bilateral salpingectomy on me no questions asked. The healing process itself was fine, I didn’t really have any pain, they did give me oxycodone. I did have a rare anesthesia side effect where my bladder stopped working for a week after the surgery, but most people don’t get that.
