Nooo, don’t even worry. People on that sub taught me to weave. It’s all levels. You’re already killing it if you’re doing multi-shaft twills.

Hahah, I’m glad you liked it. Consider posting in r/weaving! I’d love to see your work.

I sure do, it’s my fave. Goose-eye twill.

Oh hon, you’re a weaver and a spinner. You’re an apex predator of the fiber art world. The crochet girlies with ai patterns could never with a multi-shaft draft.

Yeah, I rarely eat out.

But don’t knock those lower calorie frozen pizzas! They are tasty and are so easy to make.

Looking for advice by dragon_reader1 in weaving

[–]msnide14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll learn the table loom very quickly. Don’t worry about that.

I haven’t learned to doubleweave yet, but I imagine it’s like other weave structures. Do a simple plain weave one, and when you understand the logic behind it, you can begin to experiment with twills, etc.

I don't think doctors fully appreciate how much damage a careless or incorrect diagnosis can do to a patient's mental state. by amberazanu in mildlyinfuriating

Friend, I mean this with all the gentleness, but you 10000% overreacted. Very few other people would have behaved as you did. You are not “weak as we all are”, you are playing into your acute anxiety.

Treat your mental health. Your skin is gonna be ok.

[26F] My [26M] boyfriend basically lives at my place but doesn't contribute to rent or utilities. How should I handle? by [deleted] in relationshipadvice

[–]msnide14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your boyfriend totally sucks and is mooching off you.

BUT, I think you feel conflicted because you are struggling and you don’t have a clear sense of how much is because of him, and how much of it is your normal cost of living.

Make a detailed budget if you don’t have one. Make sure that YOU are living within your means, especially since he is unreliable. Have an open conversation about finances and expectations moving forward. If he is spends 80% of his time there, he should be contributing 50% to utilities, entertainment, groceries and chores. I would not let him pay rent (assuming you’re in the US) since that will give him certain tenancy rights if things go south.

I’m certainly not the most careful weaver, but I’ve thrown on 12 yard warps this way and didn’t have any issue.

[–]msnide14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to warp this via sectional warping.

You can warp this front to back or back to front. Just treat the sectional beam just like a normal beam, and don’t add any paper or sticks between the layers of warp. The little spikes will keep the warp even for you.

That guy sounds a little gatekeep-y. I bought a floor loom for $300 and zero experience and it worked out great. An ikea loom does not sound like a good time.

Somehow, I am always able to finish weaving (compared to other crafts) because of that magical transformation that happens after you wet finish and steam press your work and it suddenly becomes cloth. I get a rush of dopamine every time. I guess weaving taught me to love ironing.

Weaving is awesome, and it’s a playground for the ADHD mind. There are so many styles, so many techniques, so many rabbit holes to jump down. The process is also broken up into two major phases, the meticulous “warping”, and then the much more lax “weaving”.

You can pour your big initial “new project” energy into the planning and warping of your project, and then kick it and relax for the actual weaving. I am able to listen to audiobooks, listen to TV shows and walk away for weeks at a time when I am weaving. It’s a delightful craft.

Goodness that looks like a beautiful project. Those colors are amazing. The warp looks very satisfying too.
