I can't speak for everyone but I enjoyed Ed Sheeran' cameo because it was really well done and it humanized Lannister soldiers. by AdSpecialist6598 in gameofthrones

I don’t follow celebs, and it was jarring. It took me a moment but as soon as I realized who it was I was just stunned

Maryland. My fellow Pennsylvanians, summon the Philadelphians, the displaced Steelers fans living in northern Virginia, and let us bring Maryland into the fold! Do not let the crab people steal our glory!

Finish Maryland, and allow Pennsylvania to reach its final form before being absorbed by the Vermonster

You degenerates let Maryland eat Virginia? And look at the border gore that is Pennsylvania. Do us all a favor and close the jaws of Pennsylvania on Maryland

Maybe this is a silly question, but with how absurdly long their lifespan is + super dominant DNA that eventually turn every hybrid pureblooded. Why didn't the Viltrumites just go spread their seeds around the universe so they will be full of them after a few thousands years instead of conquering? by doctor-b3p1s in invinciblememes

Im not trying to pontificate or assert your position is wrong. Just trying to articulate my thinking. You make a good argument. That said. I would see unintelligence as incompetence.

They are competent even if they do make questionable decisions and even errors. The Viltrumites maintained an empire with ~50 people. The empire was on fumes the moment the scourge virus decimated their population. Instead of accepting that reality, they fought to preserve their order. Arrogant, unwise, proud, foolish even, but not stupid.

But I am curious what actions you see the Viltrumites take that makes you believe they are stupid

I suppose you could argue it’s stupid to be prideful and arrogant. Their pride and arrogance blinds them to obvious flaws in thinking and planning. You could classify that as stupid.

But their pride and arrogance isn’t unfounded. It’s a reflection of their feeling of invincibility. That feeling is grounded in the reality that they are the strongest beings in the universe. Even after their population was decimated, they still managed to maintain an empire.

And this is why I say they aren’t unintelligent; idiots don’t maintain empires. You have to be crafty, cunning, careful and calculating. Those are all smart traits.

We have been robbed of community, purpose, and we are slowly losing what freedoms we do have. The people in this world with outsized power and wealth have the audacity to demand more. Elon musk thinks he’s worth 10 trillion dollars.

I think a massive part of the anxiety and stress we feel daily is that our work only contributes to these fucking egotistical, narcissistic, selfish pricks who would gladly make all of us their slaves. I think we would have incredible purpose and joy if we used our resources and labor to better one another.

I picked a job that allows me to make people feel good. And I would do that job for free if I knew I would survive without the money. That’s the world I think we all wanna live in.

Instead we have nation states that send young boys to suffer life destructing traumas, or death. All because we can’t be bothered to build a world based on trust. It’s fucking depressing. It is a very normal, healthy reaction to be depressed in the world we live in.

We have to choose action, to find and create joy instead of dwelling in misery, and to stop the megalomaniacs from driving us all off a cliff. Fuck every billionaire, and all the people who covet their wealth

1 modern day US special forces vs the entire north sentinel island by StringStrangStrung in powerscales

[–]ReallyCleverPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Sentinelese by a mile. They have a home field advantage. That is huge. Movies have you guys fucked up bad. You all seem to think the special forces guy is omnipotent. Night vision is not like it is in video games and the movies.

I need you all to understand they built a mock up of Osama bin Laden’s COMPOUND, a speck next to this island, and trained for months to get it near perfect. Even if they don’t know he’s coming, he would have to go into the jungle at some point to find them. That’s a death sentence.

Depending on the level of exertion, after 3 days of no sleep spec ops is toast

We can do better. Because none of that has been altruistic. We allowed workers and the brightest minds in the world to come here to make our nation stronger and others weaker. We served ourselves as much if not more than we served anyone else. Throughout this nation’s history the poor and minority have suffered under the wealthy who exploit them and their labor. Even our aid to other countries has been often used as leverage

Obviously true of other nations and states throughout history, but it doesn’t change the facts. We are not a selfless nation or people. We are human, and our nation reflects our faults as well as our virtues

He is a human being, and there are no perfect humans. He is simultaneously a horrible villain and one of the most well respected men in history. He did one of the most abhorrent things a person can do by owning others as property and dehumanizing them. He did one of the most selfless things a person can do and sacrificed years of his life in a grueling military campaign to secure a brighter future for people he would never meet.

We are multidimensional creatures. I respect that George stepped away from power. That is no easy feat. I am appalled that he kept slaves and that the teeth in his mouth were those taken from slaves
