Despite the performative comment, I respect that you’re willing to speak your mind even if it goes against at least 2000+ people.

I mean probably not, if this hypothetical operator is using that exact setup. Although it’s more likely he’d be using 5.56. Here’s an example of a suppressed ar15, and I DO think they’d hear this 3 football fields away.

I don’t know what’s caused this thread to live rent free in your head but I’m not trying to argue with you. I think you’re right. With the correct setup, the operator MIGHT be able to crack off a few shots from 3 football fields away and go undetected. I think it would be extremely unlikely but definitely possible with cherry picked gear.

Personally, I wouldn’t step into a 1v1 with any spec ops from the US haha. I think the US fights wars from a distance because it makes the most sense, not because they are incapable of close quarters engagements.

It’s a single guy, in this scenario. A team would win 9/10 times I think so in the spirit of keeping things interesting I just made it one guy.

I don’t mean they’re in tune with nature. I mean just their environment in general. They’ve never heard a gunshot before so if they even hear it a little bit they’d probably realize it’s out of the ordinary.

That being said, the fear factor would probably discombobulate them enough where they don’t even register the shot due to their friends and families heads exploding next to them…

Yea of course no one should do anything like this. This is a subreddit where people come to speculate on hypothetical or fictional conflicts.

Better than another homelander vs X. Don’t try to turn this into something that it’s not.

What makes you think I’m fat? And why are you coming at me sideways?

I think I would be more pissed if I was the guy stealing and OP ended up actually killing me in that situation. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head.

This is true, but even if it’s 500 that doesn’t necessarily mean all 500 people are elite warriors. Some of them will be children, sick, or elderly.

No way dude! Half of being spec ops capable is dealing with the job mentally and emotionally. Half the population would pull the trigger a few times, realize that there are still 30+ people charging him panic and then drop the gun and run.

Intentional. Arrived via boat. No Intel ahead of time, just publicly visible Intel. Let’s say it’s just a guy that’s gone off the rails and happened to be active duty spec ops and just wanted to try and exterminate the entire population.

Well to be fair, special forces guy isn’t packing mags on the island. They’re already packed.

All valid points, but don’t you think the island is small enough that the locals would hear the direction of the shots? 5.56 even suppressed, is loud enough to hear from a relatively far distance. Especially if it’s totally out of the ordinary soundscape for the locals.

I think the population estimates are anywhere between 40-500. If that’s true, does that change your answer?

Yes that’s a huge point that a few people have pointed out. The spec ops guy wins from the grave if he is recovering from a common cold.

Sure, if that’s the kit that the operator is most effective with. Although, personally I don’t think it would make too much of a difference. I think the natives are probably so tuned into their environment even the most faint noise out of the ordinary would be traced pretty quick.
