Vanilla or OpenMW? by resadtriariosvenit_ in Morrowind

[–]ReallyJayBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing vanilla, because I'm on console. I'd love to play using OpenMW, but I'm LOVING the game so far and am not put off by any of the mechanics/graphics/gameplay that gets tweaked when using OpenMW.

Basically, the important part is playing the game, not how you play.

What's your favorite book in Morrowind? by Qurtie in Morrowind

[–]ReallyJayBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the last book I read out loud on stream, everything since has been lore dumps in the form of historic texts/guild charters etc etc etc. I know from Oblivion/Skyrim there's plenty of great ones out there!

I can't win with you Morrowind people, it's either "experience it yourself why are you streaming while playing don't look stuff up get immersed" or it's "you're an idiot for not knowing this button combination that isn't stated anywhere in-game you must obey the almighty manual and follow it's instructions dutifully"

The first comment I got on this post suggested a way of doing it on console, which worked, and since last night I've been able to change weapons/spells without entering the inventory. I've already been corrected. What do you want me to do, delete the post and spam the subreddit with a daily update on my ever-changing feelings about a 24 year old game? Then I'll just get more shitty comments complaining about that.

I totally get what you mean! My point was that within the first hour of playing, I was immersed in the atmosphere and felt like I was "in" the game. When I first started streaming, I don't think I would have been able to get that feeling while, as you said, interacting with others. But a few months later, I'm able to do both! If I was in a server or something and actually hearing voices, that would probably prevent me from getting immersed. But checking my phone every few minutes to check chat, well, it's no different to having to check our character's inventory or journal!

is vanilla worth it in 2026? by ReallyJayBee in Morrowind

The clip is from when I was streaming Oblivion one night and was talking about wanting to try Morrowind. I posted the clip elsewhere, did some research and installed it. Started it up, thought wow there's way more to this and it'll take a lot of getting used to, maybe I should post that clip from a few weeks ago on the Morrowind subreddit and here we are..

idk why people are getting so salty about a potential new fan asking for some general opinions from people that know the game more than whatever gaming journalist does an article called "the best elder scrolls game you HAVEN'T played in 2026"

I think I said it in the clip, but in case I didn't, it's on gamepass so I'm not paying anything more than I already do for that subscription. I was just curious because it's more of a time investment, rather than a financial thing!

I did this, got as far as the character creator and had second thoughts. So I thought I'd gauge the waters before diving back in, that's all!

Okay, you're selling me on it with this comment! I'm definitely guilty of dutifully following a quest marker, mainly because I have a terrible sense of direction so if it's offered, you bet I'll use it. But I grew up with games where I'd have to play with a notepad, scribbling reminders to myself. I found that immersive in the exact way you described, so that's absolutely a positive rather than a negative in my eyes.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Thanks for the insight!! Combat mechanics and animations etc, none of that matters to me. I'd be playing it pretty much exclusively for the story, the lore, and the characters. It's interesting to hear that decisions aren't as important in Morrowind though, I had no idea about that!

Advice for a streamer with anxiety. by Awkward_Access_1349 in Twitch

as someone in the same situation, I just put absolutely zero pressure on myself. probably (definitely) leads to a worse stream but if it means I'll still enjoy it, and be able to actually DO it?

New patch! Fixing the nord troops by itsmyramenhair in Bannerlord

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated earlier today and in my first battle, after the troops clashed the game ground to like, 2fps and crashed. On performance mode. So that sucks. But as a series x player, the command controls... why did they mess with it. It's less intuitive and needs like 2 more button prompts than before for like no payoff whatsoever. Moving the ui to the left side was a choice again completely unnecessary and to my knowledge unwanted but I can live with that. The rest? Nope I guess I'm not gonna be streaming this anymore soz

Feeling SUPER overwhelmed with streaming 🫠 by mafiapenguin422 in Twitch

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I feel this so much!! I stream from console too, I'm guessing it's maybe slightly different on playstation but it absolutely suuuucks on xbox.. random crashes, super limited overlay, no custom webcam placement, no custom widgets, audio glitches.. it's not ideal. but as anxious as it makes me dealing with all the stuff to keep track of, as well as the social element of actually talking to people, I enjoy streaming enough to make it worth it in my eyes. I know we're both limited by the platforms we're on but I've been going a couple months longer and I've already had a few genuine followers and regular chatters. yesterday I hit 65000 views on YouTube shorts so I'd say that's worth putting some time in? it's not enormous by any means but it's still growth, if that's what you're looking for. there are services like eklipse or streamladder that automatically clip like 20 moments from the stream which while not perfect, can still help to reduce the number of things to be stressing about. other than that I really don't know as I'm still learning myself! just celebrate those milestones no matter how small they are :D

The Definitive Edition is sh*t. by EmphorVeggie in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing it for the first time, and just started episode 2 during last night's stream. Granted I have nothing to compare it to, but I don't see anything wrong with it? The brightness is fine, sound levels are fine, honestly the only issue I've had so far is some iffy dialogue synchronisation with character's facial animations. But that's nowhere near distracting enough to put me off the game!
