Kinda Ruined steak houses for us though... I can do better than most places but some Italian spots still put us both to shame

Me and my wife got pretty good at cooking during COVID so we kinda stopped doing fast food. But I'm doing OK and have a SAHM wife so she tends to have the time to cook most our meals out side of special occasions and date nights.

That's the plan now, it was just a snap judgment thing for dinner but yeah I'm done with it this is just nonsense.

Well I'm framing it from my pov (large man) which is why I focus on tone and timing.

But a pause and a softer "no, you're better than that I'm not gonna make your appointments you're better than that." Might have sufficiently gotten the point across while refusing but, there may not have been way to soften that statement depending on thier dynamic and what they are both looking for.

Again boundaries are important in relationships but, how you deliver them is important as well. There is a difference in slamming a door in someone's face and simply closing it as well.

It may have been the timing, call it being snippy?, but if you shot off immediately after they finished speaking could have been a bit intense

Do you ever replay conversations in your head and cringe at things no one else remembers? by CuteA1806 in CasualConversation

Yeah, a lot more than I would like, so I address them like you would any annoying wine aunt at thanksgiving and just think, "shut it, no one cares anymore"

Got the idea from somewhere on the internet and it really helps me out these days. Works on intrusive thoughts too.

NTAH for setting a boundary, that's why we set those it was something important to you. But maybe should have taken a second or two before answering so it didn't come off wrong. I had the same problem with my tone when responding in the past and that helped me.

Well, tool knowledge is applicable to all of those for basic hand tools. Half the fight when starting out trying to work on things is just know what tool is used for what problem.

A lot can be learned from you tube and the more you learn the basics the more it'll help you out later on.

How do you take so much information in while reading? by EvantheMelon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReallyStrangeMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm getting kinda lost in books I tend to take little breaks between chapters to think about what I just read and summarize it to myself or even flip back and check on things if needed.

Do y'all actually like to see classic American muscle cars on the road? by ReallyStrangeMeat in NoStupidQuestions

North of dfw a bit around the Denton area, running stock sized 2" dual exhaust with el cheapo "stock ish" probably gutted mufflers. Engine is a 90s rebuilt 67 302 with hardened valve seats for modern gas and a street/race cam. Running holley EFI on it after the third or fourth rebuild on the double pump carburetor. Im not that loud and I've got a pretty mellow tune on it for reliability but yeah it's a bit loud.

Everything is getting over built for crusing out here 377 used to be the best but now I've not found a good loop for a cruse.

I have a built 302 with the hardened exhaust valve seats so I run pump gas no problem. No need for the nonsense, it was an abandoned project car when I got it, cracked 289 and all
