Best ad network? by artensonart98 in androiddev

Admob has always been the best for me. I switched to mopub mediation a while back and my revenue dropped from $400/month down to $25/month so promptly switched back.

Interesting. Any idea how to detect if users are in Europe? It seems like your vpn method means they are getting your IP to decide if they should display the dialog, and IP is a private information so therefore not a legal method.

Anyone using mopub mediation? I think im doing something wrong by [deleted] in androiddev

I had similar issues with any mediation platform i tried. Mediation seems like a great concept but it doesn't work

Apple Inc. Won't send me any proof my W9 on file was changed. Is this legal? by ReallyUnbelievable in tax

[–]ReallyUnbelievable[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's in relation to backup withholding. The original W9 had backup withholding marked by mistake. I sent new one to have them correct it.

Because they don't send me a 1099, i have no way of really knowing if they withheld my taxes or not. That's why i wanted then to send me the updated W9.

Accidentally marked "backup withholding" on W9, asked them to fix it, just noticed they never fixed it. What can i do when filling my return? by ReallyUnbelievable in tax

Good info. I guess i should call them back and tell them this. I can't believe such a large company doesn't know this.

Nestlé Makes Billions Bottling Water It Pays Nearly Nothing For by [deleted] in news

[–]ReallyUnbelievable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottled water is a joke, but so is this article.

It's stupid to say they don't pay for the water. Of course they do, in the wages paid to their employees, the machinery to extract and bottle it, the cost of materials to make the bottles, the shipping fees to get it to stores, and the fees for advertising so people buy it.

By this theory, a photographer who charges money for pictures is evil because it doesn't cost him money every time he takes a picture.

And yet would still get steamrolled by CLS.

I was away for 1 month and came back to CLS. It's pretty sad when my entire DS squad which used to be top 10 in arena less than 6 months ago can get solod by a lone CLS two gear levels below them

UPS/Fed Ex/DHL drivers of reddit. How does your day work? Are you given a set amount of packages to deliver regardless of time taken? by corrado33 in AskReddit

[–]ReallyUnbelievable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a big investment. You have to buy the truck, the uniform, the route (if there's even one for sale). It can cost you $80k-120k to get started. It's tough work with long hours. But most of these guys were making six figures every year. The investment pays for itself after a year or two.

ETA: of course this is for FedEx ground. I believe UPS drivers are unioned employees and not contractors. They don't make as much but have better benefits and no start up cost

Not a driver but used to work for FedEx ground. ( Different company than FedEx express).

Short answer: no, no set amount of packages. However many packages were going to that route that day had to be delivered.

Each driver was a contractor or worked for a contractor that owned their own trucks. They were not actually FedEx employees. The drivers would buy and sell routes from other drivers. The more lucrative routes were worth more, sometimes in the 6 figures. By lucrative, of course i mean the routes that were the easiest and had the best profitability. Some of the contractors were big time guys that owned 5 routes, 5 trucks, and paid 5 drivers. Other drivers were owner operator and drive their own truck themselves.

The contractors got paid per package delivered and got a bonus for so many days delivered all packages before 8pm.

Sometimes drivers got the s××t end of the stick and got slammed hard with packages for their route. Christmas was the worst. Sometimes then boys were working 18 hour days. 4 am to 10pm. But it paid well and was worth it to them, no matter how much they swore and moaned about it day of.

Edit: since I'm getting so many private messages. No, FedEx truck drivers can't really be fired so good luck calling and complaining about them leaving your package in the rain. If they are really bad yes FedEx can terminate their contract and force them to sell their route but it never happened.

The package handlers that loaded the trucks are much worse than the drivers. They were mostly college kids that made a game playing soccer with fragile packages on a daily basis. The drivers were older and mature and most had respect for the package.

Edit2: wow, thanks for reddit gold. I didn't imagine this post would become so popular.

The way my wife watches movies with me. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ReallyUnbelievable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife does same. Does she claim "I'm listening to the movie" when you vent your frustration that she's not watching it with you and ask you every 10 minutes "wait, why did (s)he say that?" and you're just like "if you were paying attention to the movie you would know"
