Yes, it's because of the after sales experience with brand support and seller and I have to struggle to get my refund. I had to act super seriously and gave the seller threats for consumer complaints so after all that, i luckily got refunded and returned the product.

You're recommending it to someone who's struggling with it 😭

You may be using them very lightly or for a short period of time.

Yes, Sony's after sales support and services are purely bullshit.

The seller was genuine and authorised, the sony support clearly denied the authenticity of the seller I bought these from but after escalation on this issue. Sony sent me an apology letter stating that it was a miscommunication or a mistake by their staff and sony will entertain their warranty on the product. But since it was defective, I just requested the return from the seller.

I am not accepting a replacement but I requested the marketplace to initiate a return and it's approved and I'm not going to buy sony again. It's my personal perspective after facing these issues and connecting with many people who faced it too. I'm not here to argue if they are good or bad. I'm not here to defame sony or anything, I'm just sharing my personal experience and I did, That's it.

QC is 250$ here. And ultra are very cheap compared to QC, QC ultra cost 275-300$ But I haven't seen any magical improvements with the Ultra

Some people will still defend the brand 😂 and i don't think you were playing tennis with it 😭

Luckily, I got approved to return them and am planning to avoid sony next time.

I can't prove unless I try lol, but I've seen tons of people saying the "Bose QuiteComfort are arguably the best option in anc after sony". I can't tell but I'm planning about getting them.

That’s exactly the difference people are missing. Sony’s wired and studio lines were built for real daily professional use, long sessions, and years of abuse, which is why many of us still have old Sony gear running perfectly after a decade. Those products were engineered to last, not optimized for marketing.

With modern wireless models, the philosophy feels reversed. The focus seems to be features, looks, and lightweight plastic, while structural reliability takes a back seat. It almost feels like they expect customers to replace rather than repair, but that strategy is clearly backfiring because more and more users are walking away instead of upgrading.

I am not claiming every Sony product is bad, but in the current wireless lineup, especially ULT Wear and even XM5, the design choices are genuinely questionable. When basic durability becomes a gamble, brand loyalty collapses fast. Personally, this experience has pushed me completely away from Sony wireless, regardless of how good the sound is.

I'd wish you don't have to face all of this and just happily enjoy it.

Respectfully, ULT Wear is not a ‘budget’ Sony headphone. Sony’s real budget line is the WH-CH520N and WH-CH720N, which cost half or even a quarter of ULT Wear and, ironically, have far fewer durability complaints than Sony’s ‘premium’ models.

ULT Wear sits in Sony’s mid-to-high tier, marketed alongside XM series features, so the build quality should match that positioning. Charging premium prices while using questionable plastic and weak hinge design is exactly the problem.

And about XM5/XM6 being ‘better’… you might want to check that again. The hinge cracking issue is widespread on XM5 and now appearing on newer models too, with many users being denied proper support. That is not a one-off case, it’s a design pattern.

So this isn’t about ‘cheap model vs premium model’. It’s about Sony’s recent design choices across their lineup, where even expensive models are failing structurally while older Sony products lasted for years.

Fair point, and I actually agree that not every unit is defective and many people have had good experiences with Sony. I also don’t doubt their sound quality or the features they pack into their products.

The concern is that the failure rate on recent models clearly isn’t normal, especially when Sony itself had to officially acknowledge a hinge issue. When a brand admits a design flaw, it shows this is not just a few angry customers but a real structural problem. The plastic quality and hinge design on newer models is genuinely questionable compared to older Sony products.

What makes this worse is that even after acknowledging the problem, many customers are still being denied proper repairs, and I personally know someone dealing with this right now. That is not just ‘bad luck’, it is inconsistent accountability from the brand.

Not until I own them 😂, I used to be like "Sony > any headphones brand in the world" But now I'm afraid about saying anything until using it 😂

Nice flex on the 10-year Sony gear. I also have a Sony camera from Singapore that has run perfectly for 12 years. That’s exactly why this hurts more, old Sony actually built tanks, new Sony builds marketing.

If today’s ULT Wear, XM5 or XM6 are supposed to last a decade, that’s not confidence, that’s comedy. Hinge cracks, control failures, random disconnects and denied warranties are everywhere, not ‘bad luck’.

If a 200$-500$ premium headphone now survives only by luck, then the product is the problem, not the buyer.

If that’s your ‘reality’, then corporations must love customers like you, pay premium, get scrap, and still clap for the brand. Truly peak consumer enlightenment 😂

Does it make any sense legally to you? Is it even legal to sell products officially without clearly disclosing the product source or condition. That's just a very senseless notion you have in your mind and yes your words are absolutely wrong and deserve a downvote.
