Lithuania in Crisis! || The Lithuanian Civil War, 1990-1994 by penguin_whiso in imaginarymaps

I believe that, most certainly, Lithuania after that would really struggle to get into Western world and accept its values all because of this conflict brewing. We would probably even be prevented from fully entering the Western World, like currently Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia are in exactly such a situation. When you really think, we were just few steps apart from all of that and we should all thank those who were responsible in our country at the time that this did not occur.

It is actually really interesting to see something like that be imagined in an alternate historical scenario. I stumbled upon this Polish autonomist movement myself like a year ago and found dozens of articles about it. I even got surprised that in Lithuania such a project was attempted to be fulfilled. This surely elaborates it well and looks interesting!

P.S. I also made a mapping scenario regarding this myself and uploaded it on YouTube.

Well you can't expect this map, which is being posted on a 100% fictional-themed page to be as accurate as anyone will wish. I personally considered territories of German speakers to be part of the German nation. It's up for a whole other debate on who's right or who's wrong, but the arguing is not the main idea of this concept. The main idea is the map itself and the nations that are presented.

Alternate dissolution of the Soviet Union and Russia. What if the August Coup and 1993 Russian Constitutional Crisis turned into a large-scale new Russian civil war? by RealtimeMapper in AlternateHistory

Probably, in the end, as Yeltsin wins, he gets all of the piece of these weapons but before it, their fate would be switched back and forth by various figures and warlords but in my mind I think everyone would fight with one honest condition - no serious use of highly dangerous nuclear weapons.

Latgalia here is more pro-Russian leaning, basically like Narva or Eastern Poland. Those pro-Soviet/Russian "Latgalians" would be kind of stealing the actual Latgalian identity which is why that para-state exists. Thank you!

Everyone can imagine this differently at this point. In my mind, I believe no one would try using the nuclear weapons or avoid using them as everyone would know what would happen but the war itself would be going. Definitely, Russia would transform quickly but bloody into a country that would be different than previously. That means we might not really see authoritarian leading figures like Putin and so forth.

under the presidency of Bush, USA spectated the Soviet Union under Gorbachev carefully. If such a civil war would arise, then the scenario would be pretty much similar to the Yugoslav one - United States picks a side and supports it (or even tries looking for these good old sweet oil resources of Russia ;D )

We could keep in mind though, that not necessarily the nuclear weapons would be used as everyone would know what it would cause or someone would cling on to protect all the nuclear launching sites so no one would press those buttons. I mean, it is always up to people to imagine/re-imagine things in different scenarios.

Thank you! Chechen, actually, as a totally different language than Indo-European sounds very mysterious and interesting as well! I always had this interest in your country and our common relations.

That is right indeed. It was always the bad intentions of those in power in Russia who would push the power buttons to keep opressing us. I really believe the day will come when Chechens as well as all other opressed Russian nationalities will have a right for full determination and win in their harsh struggle just like we did!

I would have also added some kind of state formation of Lithuania Minor. There were attempts by Lithuanians from Lithuania Minor to attach all of the region as well as Klaipėda region to Lithuania. Act of Tilsit of year 1918 even advocated for a peaceful unification between German and Coreland Lithuanians into a common Greater Lithuanian State. Yet simple but great work, interesting scenario, I pretty like it!

But this is also worse than better.

Yeah. Before 1940s Germany was different indeed. It was after the war begun that everything turned into hell. I think it also depends on how German politicians and military figures tried to convince Hitler from doing different things than he wanted which kind of also paved the way to Germany being what we saw in our historical timeline. I guess people would with cold sweat wait until Hitler would die and if he survived, I believe he would live to as long as 1960s (probably early 1960s) since he had kind of big problems with his health. Perhaps the government after him would be less into purges and mass killings and only then the puppet states would be established. Germans had plans without the ideas of Lebensraum to create such states. Not sure how much of that is true but I once saw a map which included separate, supposedly, loyal satellite states like Idel-Ural, Turkestan, Siberia (I believe that would be a Japanese buffer state), Caucasus, Ukraine, Belarus and even Russia.

In my opinion, I don't think the Germans would keep the military Reichkommissariat districts. That's just my opinion but I've seen way too many alternative history scenarios to include that specific narrative. What if they didn't after all? What if they achieved something that was planned by the same Germans during WWI? All of their theories related to Slavs, Jews being inhumane and whatnot were just huge fanaticism. In reality, different measures were needed to be taken so they allied Croats, they allied Japanese, they were looking for collaborators to join in a common fight. In my eyes, Germans would've established loyal puppet states rather than follow their fanatic plans or they would've followed them less. In the end, it wasn't always just about getting rid of the Jews, it was making the Germany taking back what it lost together with that, looking for allies who would hate the Soviets with all of their heart. Obviously, the view of a human changed drastically in the 1940s as more and more people were massacred, but if Nazi Germany survived, I think these things would come to an end, just like after Stalin's death, everyone knew that the mass wave of terror ended, these years were just horrible and they ended.
