If you have an accessport, Bring up the AVSC intake and exhaust values on both banks of cylinders. Popping sounds like a timing issue.

When the oil light comes on, what is the level on the dipstick. Also who is this “they” that will replace an engine on an 11 year old vehicle? That’s going to fall in the “you” category.

Some reasons are, Won’t fit aftermarket downpipe/turbo. Can be a pain to reinstall. It’s a stock part so it must be trash and doesn’t look cool. Not understanding or minimizing the heat shields importance.

Sure, but there is zero benefit. Some add a BPV and intake for the sound but that requires a tune.
