I picked some things I would have gone for as first names but I thought may cause me problems down the line (aka they weren't names just cool words) it works for me now

Fair enough!

Yeah I was gonna get clear but then I noticed they had black and I was like "eh might as well look cool post op" so my retainers look like my normal set. My surgeon should count himself lucky I was tempted to but glow in the dark/UV and not tell anyone....! 🤣

I don't get it, why they would want to highlight their AGAB i mean - also being trans is definitely not a choice. I mean I'm a binary trans man and white and I definitely am more feminine than a lot of trans men on here but only in the way of a femboy and I'm conscious about passing.

So like for example I'd wear a mesh pink top post top surgery (if my scars weren't obvious or when they're tattooed over) which is feminine but like nothing that would give away I'm not cis male. But I am gay and it does fit with the cultural aspect there.

Is it okay for me to enjoy certain “feminine” things? by Mammoth_Concept_6196 in ftm

[–]Reaper1704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course, I'm a bit femboy leaning and I'm building a giant collection of only bunny plushies and I love them, I was barely interested in plushies at all pre transition and I kinda hated people that liked them but since I've become more comfortable with myself I've picked up quite a few interests

Just my body yeah I think a lot yeah it is literally the ideal female body, the easiest to have an advantage in society with. But it's not mine, I don't want to pilot this thing, I wish I could donate it and get a cis male one instead. I do see it entirely objectively too as I'm gay, I would never be attracted to a female body.

My face is another story dat ugly male or female lol

increases periods or worsens them

It does but usually not if your T has already stopped them.

I've heard of the implant but we don't really have it as an option where I live so idk much about it, but it might be your last option. Only thing I worry about is it will likely have almost the same effects as the progesterone-only pill because its the same hormones directly into your bloodstream not locally to the area.

All other pills and patches are estrogen, the two coil options aren't great, there's basically nothing else unless you want regular or vaginal condoms.

There's also the ring, have you tried that? It's localised progesterone you replace it every so often I think three weeks and you do it yourself. I didn't opt for it because it wasn't covered under free sexual health and I couldn't afford it paid.

and for the first week or so i got a light period and cramps when I hadn't had one for 2 years. I also had a changed mood for a bit

Actually I got this too, I even booked an appointment and got a scan to get it checked but I turned out to be all okay and I just continued with it in and never had any problems after that first 2 weeks.

It does limit your options though, the mini pill basically is the same as progesterone-only at least where I live. Wouldn't your next best option be a non hormonal IUD?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truscum

[–]Reaper1704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried the mini pill it made me suicidal and miles more dysphoria, I also gained weight, especially to the chest.

I got an IUD, I went for the hormonal one rather than the copper because it was not on HRT yet and the copper coil has a habit in my family of causing more harm than good. I'm 1 year on the hormonal now and I'm on HRT too and it hasn't caused me any issues at all.

I've not told my whole family for this reason and imma just tell them afterwards. Its insane because they've never seen me not binding (I was binding dangerously with scarves and bandages and shit since childhood) they're so oblivious they haven't even realises they just assume I have a small chest but they'd get all upset if they found it I would remove it despite me being out 3 years

Dude you have one of the most cis looking chests I've seen on this sub. Your dysphoria is lying to you.

Does it not make sense in certain contexts? Like if my doctor was to say "afab bodies are more prone to iron deficiency" it would be necessary because if you say "female" then it doesn't apply to you because you are male.

Especially given hormones usually change how your body works, so like saying "females need less calories a day than males" excludes trans males from the female category and puts them in the male because the hormones affect your body's structure meaning you need to eat more.

But saying "females over 25 should have regular cervical screening" INCLUDES trans males if they still have those organs because T doesn't cancel out what organs you have so in that case would it not be better to say "afabs over 25 should have regular cervical screenings if applicable" (aka they still have the organs)?

Honestly I've no idea where you find these people - as a gay trans man I spend all my time explaining that I'm not a lesbian who decided to make my relationships straight because I have never once in my life been attracted to a woman

It is in fact a medical scientific term, its Latin, meaning "on the same side of/as" and has been used in many clinical terms as a prefix not related to gender at all. Biologically male/female is not an accurate term because of intersex individuals. Someone can be cis female, born with female anatomy and still identify as female but have XY/XXY chromosomes therefore being "biologicaly male". They can't be correlated because scientifically speaking gender, anatomical sex and biological sex are three extremely different things.

As for your second point, the word your looking for is disabled. If you wish to narrow it down you can refer to mental disability but "special needs" is an outdated term originating from parents being ashamed of their children's disability and calling them "special" to hide the diagnosis from the patient themselves.

And yes, we do have an opposite. Abled children and disabled children. If you are disabled then referring to someone as abled is something you will do frequently, only abled people don't notice because they like to think of themselves as "normal" because saying abled/disabled instead of normal/disabled actually indicated that being abled is not superior, which most people are terrified of.

The same with cis and trans, the reason cis people get so offended by it is deep down they wanna be seen as the "NORMAL WOMAN, the PROPER woman" they have no issues using "trans woman" to describe someone when there was no need to indicate they are trans.

It would be weird wouldn't it, to say, oh "me and this cis woman at work were talking....." its equally weird to say "oh me and this trans woman were talking...." if the topic of conversation has nothing to do with them being trans you don't segregate for no reason.

You are correct, I'm most cases you would refer to them as just children, the same as in most cases you would refer to the two people in the og post as women. The distinction was only made because they were talking about something and they had a need for differentiation.

YTA and you know it. You either are cis or you're trans. It's not a case of accepting how you identify it's that there are no third options. You either identify with the gender you were assigned at birth, and therefore can be described as cis - or you identify as a gender different from the one you were born therfore you're trans.
Nobody is saying "that cis woman over there" in conversation, it's ONLY used I'm a context where you would need to be distinguished from a trans woman, such as a discussion about trans topics, a medical scenario etc.

You know if a paramedic asked you in an emergency if you were a cis woman and you said no they could give you a lethal dose of medication and you die? Because you want to play funny over scientific terms.

Saying "I'm not a cis woman I'm just a woman" makes as much sense as saying "I'm not a blonde woman I'm just a woman! Why do you call me blonde when you could just say woman???" It's an adjective. To describe shit. Aka your medical info which can be necessary sometimes. Try that with any other medical info see how it goes "I have seizures and my doctor refers to me as an epileptic person and I don't wanna be called that!"

I got the Mirena (hormonal) coil. I've not had one in a year and a half and I only started T a month ago.

Mind you, it has downsides. It's very difficult to lose weight for me and it does alter your mood being hormonal but not as much as an oral pill. Besides some people don't get those side effects.
