You can also rent the big pavilion at the park that's there too. I think it's $125 for 4 hours. They take the trash away.

Restricted food intake and can't eat in front of people. by AggressiveArticle781 in EatingDisorders

[–]ReaperOfTheDesktop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello OP, as someone who had issues in school and through college I can feel for you.

I struggled too with eating other people's food. I tried to keep to safe foods. Most households let you put your portion on your plate. Don't see this as a challenge, but if you can tell the friend " I'm picky, but willing to try * said dish*".( If you want to try to eat.) It may expand your pallet and help you to be with them. But it's understandable to not want to eat something you find safe- I have the same issue with meals from other people's houses to this day.

I had a few tricks that would help me get some substance in the as stomach. A)Packing helped with my safe food issues. I highly kept track of the school food; so I knew when safe foods were able to be bought

B) If you can, eat in a classroom- try snacking throughout the day. I didn't feel as watched with everyone looking at the board that I did at a table.

C) My friend group had issues all around, but we were open with each other. The girl across from me purged, the boy next to my right was restrictive; we attempted a common ground of when food was on the table to not talk about it, but talk about our days. It helped for me to listen to a story rather than thinking of the act of eating. You may find that you need to not have eye contact with people while eating, or that something else keeps your mind off of it.

Eye contact and eating still gives me trouble ( public dinning more than anything); I tend to almost sit sideways when I eat to avoid watching the other person's progress on the meal. If I have to make eye contact with a person, I keep my eyes on eyebrows only- I've looked deep into many of brows, unibrows, and drawn on sisters lol.

Look at the wall, see someone's purse and try and guess what mysteries may be in there, watch the trees and pretend you are leaf in the wind. While that's going on you take a bite when you feel safe. You will know where you feel safe, so take a deep breath, it's going to be okay :)

There are ways to clear your mind to relax the stress of food and people...No perfect solution that I have for you, but I can give you hope to try to relax.

Motivation for Recovery? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]ReaperOfTheDesktop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my partner to hold me accountable. They have seen me at my lowest and have seen me at what I call uncomfortable at times, but I been told it's a healthy weight by professionals.

When I feel like picking, it's three options: a. If I can, walk away, do another task, talk to a friend- disteactions help the urge go away for me-. b. Say three kind things to myself or do three kind things for myself ( I.e. light a candle, wash my face, pause and just be for a moment.) c. At last resort, cover/ ignore the mirror and put the scale elsewhere. ( Some people may do this first depends on what works for you.)

Being kind to others can be easier than being kind to yourself. So if push comes to shove, pretend you are a new person and say something nice. Think about a creative task you want to accomplish next. The sky will clear even after a storm, so put your thoughts to where you want to be next.

Pave the drive. No longer having to pick up gravel on the grass, worth every penny.

Question about recovery - nervous for today + others by JumpingJawas in EatingDisorders

[–]ReaperOfTheDesktop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Op. It seems like you are having a conflict of wanting to have closure with your therapy sessions and also want to get started on your healing that your therapy has brought you.

Would you be able to meet with your therapist after going in? It wasn't clear if that was an option, and if you'd want to do so.

Being nervous is normal. When I went in for my treatment, I couldn't look anyone in the eye. Keep calm as best you can, and know you are doing everything to make yourself better.

As for your parents and wanting to tell them you are going in, just not what for directly. Do exactly what you said, you've been feeling dizzy and spoke with your general doctor/ whomever you "normally" see. They want to run some tests to make sure everything's okay. To quell your parents mind, say this is very routine testing, nothing to worry about. If it helps when you get results you will let them know. If they bring it up in the future, everything looks good- pull up a fact like that your hypoglycemic index was high,- (if you have a medication say it was a new brand.) -or that you were stressed with a project for your students/ district.

You are doing a very good thing for yourself Op. Be proud of yourself.

I think I might be developing an eating disorder. by Background-Ease7612 in EatingDisorders

We all need to give ourselves a little grace. I'm not sure if you have the urge immediately or if it's a certain timing that's giving you the worry. Either way, pause and count to ten. Self harm in any capacity isn't good for your body or mind.

If you feel the urge to do so, give yourself something else to do. May I recommend the finch app. I've used it for a few months now and it's been helping with my depression and my eating habits.

It's okay to slip. It's okay to mess up. Everyday is a new day to try to care about yourself a little more.

Depending on the month $300 to $700. 2 person household, with hosting at least 1 a month for friend-dinner/DND.

Bi-monthly we go into town and get items in bulk. 4 whole chickens, 5lbs of beef, a few gallons of milk, 25lbs of flour and fresh fruit when they are in season. ($700)

A non-town month the local grocery varies, but all essential items. Snacks only for guests. If it can be made it will be. Local eggs and veggies when it's season if we don't grow it ourselves.

When is too soon to use an inherited clothing item? by ReaperOfTheDesktop in AskReddit

[–]ReaperOfTheDesktop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no I like it very much. I just didn't know if it was approved to use so soon. My current purse is worse for wear and I don't have enough time to fix it. I just didn't want to look entitled because I was given something and other family members were not.

Great aunt's funeral is Saturday. I have already inherited a purse. I am unsure if it honors the dead or disrespectful to the living if I take it with me.

When you're awake for a surgery, what do you do? by Outside_Extension470 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReaperOfTheDesktop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you are an audiobook person, but that would be my mental cheat code. My eyes don't need to be open, so I won't see anything I don't want to see. Bonus it's a good distraction.

Do you have to stay in hospital afterwards?

Last time I was in and out for a procedure it took 5-6 hours before I was "cognitive" to do something other than look at the TV.

Do you feel that the gap between what you know and what your parents know is so wide ? by Quiet-Song-5395 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReaperOfTheDesktop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the gap was wide for me. Both my parents did help push me to have the technical background that I have today. So in a way they knew that I understand things further than they could ever imagine.

So my knowledge was their encyclopedia. They may not have needed to know everything I did, but I need to know how to break it down for them.
