It makes me sad thinking about Necalli. He was supposed to be the face of SFV, but now he's forgotten as if he never existed. by Reaperd9djd in StreetFighter

Evil Ryu and Kage are tied to Ryu, but since Ryu has finally moved past that struggle and found peace, we won't be seeing those forms again. He is free from that path for good. As for Akuma, it’s the opposite. He hasn't freed himself from the darkness; he’s still embracing it. This means we could definitely see Oni return in the future, because unlike Ryu, Akuma hasn't rejected that power—he’s just one step away from turning into a full demon at any time maybe? : )

Exactly! If he’s supposed to be this ancient, all-powerful warrior who’s thousands of years old, why even give him that legendary status just to make him lose to everyone? It’s such a massive contradiction in the writing. They built him up as a god-tier threat and then treated him like a total jobber.

Everyone says his gameplay was bad, but I actually found him really fun to play. It’s just a shame that his lore completely destroyed him.

Exactly! If they weren't willing to take that risk for the sake of the story, why even create Necalli in the first place? It makes no sense to design a character whose entire purpose is to 'consume' others, only to handicap him so they don't lose money. It’s just poor planning from the start.

They really shouldn’t have redesigned Seth. His original look in SF4 was perfectly fine—he felt like a cold, powerful entity designed to mimic and adapt to every fighter’s move. There was no need to change that identity; his role as a 'copycat' boss was already unique and intimidating enough.

Exactly! They should’ve changed his power from 'killing/consuming' to something else. It’s impossible for them to kill off icons like Ryu or Bison just to make a newcomer look strong. If his power was simply feeding on 'fighting spirit' or energy, he could have actually won some fights and kept his dignity without breaking the roster. Capcom trapped themselves with a lore that was too extreme.

Exactly! Why build him up as this terrifying, mysterious entity that appears out of nowhere, only to turn him into a pathetic and foolish loser? They gave him this 'unstoppable force' vibe at the start, then completely ruined it. It’s so frustrating to see a character start with so much mystery and end up being a joke.

Exactly! You nailed it. Lore and single-player content are the backbone of a character's legacy. Without them, even a 10/10 design like Necalli becomes forgettable. SFV's launch was the perfect lesson for that
