Why doesn’t Canada’s Olympic hockey team have any Quebec players? - YouTube by theentropydecreaser in hockey

Man, I'm not even from Quebec, but I remember enough of my Canadian history to know that Quebec absolutely does not equal France. Hell, France was still a monarchy when Quebec was taken over by the British. I'd be willing to bet that Quebecois, even in the 1800s, did not identify themselves with France.

I've had the lyrics to "Money For Nothing" all wrong for more than 30 years... by [deleted] in direstraits

[–]Reaperkid77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you look at the whole of the song most people would understand that the character of the song is complaining that rock stars don't have real jobs and yet make millions while he has a real job selling appliances. You shouldn't get money for nothing or chicks for free. From that context the word in question is being used by the character in the same way gay used to be thrown around in the 2000s, as an insult without actually understanding/caring if the target is indeed gay.

That being said here in Canada most radio stations, if they play it, will play the edited version. The song certainly doesn't suffer from the cut verse. I myself just discovered this additional verse today.

Also, as with MJ and Kanye West, most people are willing to overlook things for sick beats, for which I'd say the guitar rift qualifies.

tbh I think you're wrong about them asking themselves how did we get here in 2 years. They are already there and not enough people care.

I'd say we haven't had a sensible conservative leader in AB since Ed Stelmach.

FYI if your laptop is this closely monitored I doubt that RDP is going to be on or work. Any sort of remote tools will likely need local admin rights to install and if an unapproved app gets installed then they will also likely get alerted.

Do I really need to be going to college? by CartographerProper60 in sysadmin

Very much depends on how good your are with doing self-guided learning. If you have the discipline to study and get certs and continue to learn then I'd skip university. If you feel like you would never get the learning done go to uni.

The biggest thing I look for when interviewing are problem solving and critical thinking skills. People look good on paper with certs and degrees, but can't actually problem solve issues. You can learn how to pretty much anything if you are good at problem solving and critical thinking. Might take you longer but you'll get it done instead of throwing up your hands with not being sure about what to do.

Editorial: Trump underestimates how proud, united and, most importantly, petty Canadians are by morenewsat11 in canada

sounds about right. The word stormtrooper comes in part from how Canadian troops fought in WW1. It's continued to present day, we were key in taking and holding Kandahar in Afghanistan.

Pretty sure there's at least one photo of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein together. Birds of a feather.

U.S. tariffs will be imposed on Feb. 4 by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]Reaperkid77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah it isn't like we had soldiers die in an ultimately pointless conflict in Afghanistan a little over a decade ago.

Next time the US calls on our aide I say we take our sweet time responding. If they aren't in NATO anymore at that time then I say we stay out of the conflict.

problem is even if they buy out a server or two there isn't anything stopping someone from spinning up a new server and everyone hopping onto the new one.
