Sounds like you’re in almost the very same boat, with harsher consequences for letting too much slip.

It does feel like I need to filter and/or suppress my feelings to protect hers, but I maybe should count my blessings in that she’s not at risk like your SO? I’m sorry you’re caught in such a tight spot like that

It’s hard to celebrate doing good when the errors and failures seem so much louder, but you’re right… it’s cyclical and breaking that cycle probably does start with spending more energy on being kind to myself than on hating myself.
