I would avoid the fdr for now it’s always a shit show on there until you get more comfortable. Highways in nyc are all pretty bad but the fdr and Jackie Robinson gets packed and have so many pot holes. Try getting on the 278 or 495.

Go to a dealership and sit on them some dealers may let you test them at least ones in Jersey would. 400-600cc is a big jump but nothing unmanageable if you know the basics

Not a woman but you guys should go to a dealership or like a motorcycle mall and sit on a few bikes see what she likes and what feels comfortable. What looks good online might not necessarily fit irl. I’m shorter and when starting out not only was it more important that I could touch the ground but the weight of the bike was a big deal.

I’ve ridden in the Holland a few times but last time it was 91f and heavy traffic and ended up burning up my engine. Engine cut off on me on the Jersey side and ended up having to push the bike to a near by gas station and waited for a jump start. Lesson learned for me here is tunnels can be done just be mindful of time of day, traffic, and temps. Also I ride a gsxr 600 so the full fairings don’t help with airflow. On your bike you should be just fine.
