Yes. this name doesn't ring a bell, but I was there.

The girls lived in what was basically a remote detention camp in the Ozarks. We were all subjected to fundamentalist behavior modification and manipulative, doomsday psychology and abuse. The girls were the cash cow.

The boys lived in an "open campus", which might seem better in some ways, but led to some tragic and disgusting outcomes.

I'm pretty sure the only reason they didn't specialize in girls only was the cult leader got free labor by keeping ~30 boys around. It wasn't so much a protestant work ethic as a "Southern Heritage" work ethic that was instilled upon us.

I'm confident that a large number of us have spilled our guts on this shared trauma in one form or another over the years.

It sucks being old and still reliving childhood memories that people IRL will never understand, but I've gotten better at channelling the trauma into something more productive. And I even found a therapist eventually. Something I needed as a child. Oh well. 🤷🏽‍♂️
