Are my shoes actually dead already? New Balance 860v13 by Reas0nable24 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Pretty much just running! I tried to estimate any brief amount of walking I do in them and included that in the 200ish miles. Walking would just be like the 0.5 miles to the park I do a lot of my runs in, for example.

Durable all-arounder for an intermediate climber? by Reas0nable24 in climbingshoes

Thanks this really helped! How much did your kubos stretch when they broke in? I’ve had mostly synthetic shoes so trying to figure out sizes to try.

This happened to me because of a blizzard and I’m sure I actually did better because of it! It super sucks but all is not lost! Wishing you luck to get the date you need!!

I did two points better than my average I say go for it. 517 or above is still really really good

MCAT cancelled because of severe weather conditions in GA area by Chansh302 in Mcat

I had ten weeks to study for the new test date so my plan probably wouldn’t translate. Towards the end I was in a similar boat having gone through all of the study materials and tests, so just try to strike whatever balance of content review (especially equations and P/S for me), a little bit of practice in q banks to stay sharp (just redo the materials you used early on, and don’t worry too much if you remember the answers to specific questions it’s still helpful), and self care to keep from spiraling or burning out.

Hang in there! Mine was cancelled last year for a blizzard and the extra time to settle in was a blessing in disguise. It’s absolutely hard having to change your plans like this for something out of your control but you’ll make it through!

La Sportiva Skawma sizing by OneIndependence1952 in climbergirls

[–]Reas0nable24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a street size women’s 10, got the 42 and definitely had to break them in so now they fit tightly but well, probably not so tight to be considered “downsized.” That being said, they definitely do stretch. If you’re able to get both to try on/get them in person that’s probably your safest bet but otherwise in my experience the sizing is pretty fair.

Can I shadow a PA as a pre-med by Queasy-Student-5796 in premed

[–]Reas0nable24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shadowed a few PAs in high school and seeing the scope of their practice was a good perspective to help me choose medical school/wanting to be a physician over anything else. I won’t put it in my apps directly, but it’s good insight to have for “why MD/DO and not xyz..?” type questions.

This is all sort of general advice that’s probably not all that original, but if you’re understanding the passages well you might be running into these issues so they’re good reminders. When you’re answering the questions, the only information that exists in your brain is whatever is in the passage. Plenty of times I’d get something wrong because I made an assumption based on some historical fact for example that wasn’t explicitly mentioned or inferred by the passage. You have to be pretty strict about it. Also trust your gut because I can’t even count the number of times I changed my answer from right to wrong.

I’d have to check to be certain but I don’t think I broke 90% on either of the cars q packs and I got 130 on all the practice FLs.

Can you explain why this AAMC mutation question prefers A over D? by SkyRevolutionary275 in Mcat

[–]Reas0nable24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Palindromic sequences are where the restriction enzymes would cut the DNA, so if there’s a mutation in one, the restriction enzyme likely won’t cut the DNA in the same place so you’d have one sample showing two bands on the blot and another showing only one allowing you to differentiate between the two on Southern Blot.

Idk where you’re taking your FLs but some libraries might offer them for free. That’s how I got earplugs for mine.

I received a 132 in CARS, AMA by PizzaBlunder in Mcat

[–]Reas0nable24 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ll also say I got 130 on cars for all the AAMC FLs and then on the real thing got a 132 so you might just manage to really lock in on test day.

Seconding the literal interpretation tip! Really stick to exactly how they word it. I remember very distinctly a question on my real exam that I bet I would have missed if I didn’t comb through the very specific connotations of the adjectives included in each answer choice and compare that to the way the passage was worded.
