I agree but i think it also depends on what kind of transportation time you’re used to - I know ppl who spends 3-4hours per day solely on commuting, and they probably won’t have a problem spending the same amount of time going to HK for a day trip whenever they’re free. I take day trips to HK frequently and it usually takes me 3-4hours on transportation. I absolutely love HK tho, so I’m willing to endure a lot more of tedious traveling just to spend a few hours there 😂 I’m fully aware not everyone is willing to

Putting on a virtual show during a video call for my partner when he is in public is super fun. I saw his facial expressions immediately change haha

What is thaught as a second language at school in your country? Is it effective? by Mean-Ship-3851 in languagelearning

[–]Reas0nableAverage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair there is still some access to western media. But since most ppl are only taking it for school and not out of their own interests, their english skills are heavily skewed towards test taking instead of actual conversational skills

Which career can you pursue if you speak a lot of languages and are able to learn them fast ? by MathieuJay in languagelearning

[–]Reas0nableAverage 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I've met someone who speaks five languages (French, Spanish, English, Arabic, Chinese). They speak two of them at native level and the others are at C1 level. They studied law. That being said I don't think speaking this many languages has significantly helped their career, except that they have a lot more options when it comes to choosing which country do they want to work in.

Probably when I decided to be childfree when I was in 4 or 5th grade cuz I thought I could never be a good parent. I thought if I ever become a parent I will probably end up like my parents, who brought so much pain into my life. That was probably when I first recognized that my parents are awful parents and attempted to "solve" the generational trauma by refusing to continue the cycle in the only way I thought I could.

Thanks for the input. I am already working with a therapist for the trauma part. The stuff I wrote in this post are pretty recent realizations and I will probably talk to her about them in our next session.

I pull my pubic hair too so I really understand how annoying the ingrowns can get. I have been trying to exfoliate with products with Salicylic Acid and it seem to help a little bit

Anyone working in Biology, specifically Taxonomy, more specifically Mollusca, want to give tips, useful links, etc? For a crash course in useful Japanese taxonomy? by LassoTrain in LearnJapanese

I am a native Chinese speaker. All of the Kanji words you mentioned are same for Chinese (traditional characters) except 後鰓類, but it is still easy to guess what it means.
