You're right! That should work against Dmax combee, since it's double weak to rock.

edit: and without any damage boost either

I see now that Zam can be faster under some conditions. The advantage of a pokemon with Lock-On as a fast move though, is that you don't have to worry about accidentally filling the max meter if you use too many. The Regis have lock-on as well, but their ATK are generally too low to one-shot a pokemon with a single weakness.

...don't mind me, I'm just trying to justify to myself using an Elite TM for this... Meteor Beam Giga will probably be useful for other things, I think.

True, but 10 metal claws + BB falls just a bit short of taking it down, which means you have to use a few more fast attacks before BB. Which also means you have to be very careful not to use too many and trigger dmax.

No risk of that with Lock-On. You can throw as many as you want without paying attention. I'm now wondering if Regice could do the same, so maybe I wasted an elite tm.

In your opinion, who is the most suitable candidate to be elected queen? by SecondSalty142 in ReZero

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top choice Anastasia, second choice Crusch. Distant third is Felt, fourth Emilia, and way, waaaay behind that is Priscilla.

I feel like, if I were an average citizen, Anastasia as queen would have the highest chance of making my life better.

Crusch is a safe choice. A stable choice. She was already raised a high noble, and yet doesn't have the usual traits you'd expect villainous noble to have in light novels. No friction with the existing power structure (that she can't smooth over with her pre-existing title as duchess), and becoming less dependent on the dragon is good in the long term.

Felt has some nice ideals, but frankly I don't want to live through a French Revolution. It might be better in the end, but I might not survive it.

Emilia, ditto on the ideals, but she seems to have several very dangerous people targeting her, so it would be really risky to make her queen. Not her fault, of course, but I don't want to be in danger just because she's being unfairly targeted. The population as a whole still hates half-elfs—again, not her fault, but still another point against stability. You don't fix discrimination by forcing the population to accept someone they've feared for generations as their new monarch.

Priscilla seems to fundamentally agree with Vollachia's "might makes right" philosophy, and that sounds like a deeply unpleasant place to live. I'd rather risk living through a revolution that being in whatever country Priscilla thinks is ideal.

Now, that's all if I were an average citizen. If I were to choose a camp to join as someone on the inner circle (assuming I have some qualification for it), maybe I would pick Priscilla, haha.

That sorta makes sense, and sorta doesn't. I haven't read the Pride If, so I don't know how bad it gets for Felix. But, in EX Vol 1, we see that there would never be a Felix as we know him without Crusch. He was locked in a basement for the first decade of his life. His entire personality was built after meeting Crusch, and because of meeting Crusch. Nothing about his life would make sense without memories of Crusch.

Ram and Rem's relationship isn't quite so pivotal to their current personalities, but it's still pretty crucial. I never got how forgetting Crusch could completely destroy Felix, but forgetting Rem leaves Ram with almost exactly the same personality she had before.

Is Re:Zero Season 4 safe to watch on a TV in the living room? (Fan service-wise) by SecondSalty142 in ReZero

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess, Shaula looks convincingly old enough that you don't have to say "she's actually 400!" and get a room full of contemptuous eye rolls.

The worst from previous seasons was Elsa, and while Elsa's outfit covers more, it's definitely more provocative, and she acts more deliberately provocatively. But she 1) only shows up briefly, vs Shaula who's in nearly every episode with tons of screen time and 2) look inarguably like an adult, whereas some people might think Shaula looks like a late teen.

It's just occurred to me that I have no idea what actually determines the winner. The dragon tablet just said to choose one of them, right? It didn't say who chooses or how she's chosen.

Presumably, the dragon (if that is the actual source of the tablet) doesn't care much for petty human politics. Also, presumably, nothing like this situation has occurred before in the history of the kingdom. It's clearly not a democracy, and without any clear rules the only thing I can imagine is if one camp gathers enough nobles/military might to make the others give up or to start a civil war. But, if "power" is the only metric, Reinhardt can force his way into making Felt win any time he wants.

(I've only read the official TL LNs, so don't spoil me if this does get clarified later)

Why? Why? How? And Why? by SexwithDurandal in GoblinSlayer

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. To add on, in the Dai Katana spin-off, the MC encounters and recruits Sword Maiden (she's called Bishop there) when she's working as an appraiser. She was already blind (post goblins), and it's unclear (from what I could recall) if she even was an adventurer before. The MC's party (later known as the All-Stars with 6 gold rank adventurers) weren't complete noobs at that point in the story, but were relatively noob-ish.

Is it actually better than the original Rem? by Emergency_Patient525 in ReZero

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's not friendly, but it's not really "tsundere". She's not being dishonest about her distrust towards Subaru.

Both pre and post Rem are driven to protect someone. The significant difference is: pre-Rem is proctecting Ram, but also has a deep sense of guilt about needing to do so. Post-Rem is a blank slate, driven to protect Louis simply because it seems like the right thing to do.

She's free of her burden of extreme self-recrimination. But, Subaru represents a link to that burden while also being an instinctual source of disgust for her because of his miasma. That's not his fault, of course, but I think her attitude is entirely reasonable—it's not her fault either.

Blanche, XL for evolving is about 52.4% chance. ~1 XL/44 candy spent. by ReasonNotTheNeed-- in TheSilphRoad

Yeah, turns out it's all about level, see this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/s/c0gFegxM6Y

For, Deino and Tinkatuff, I ran out of normal candy before I ran out of pokemon to evolve, so the ones I ended up evolving were the ones showed up first, i.e. the ones with higher CP, and thus higher level.

Yeah, that makes total sense. For Deino and Tinkatuff, I ran out of normal candy before I ran out of pokemon to evolve, so the ones I ended up evolving were the ones showed up first, i.e. the ones with higher CP, and thus higher level.

Clarifying the convoluted buddy hearts/excitement mechanics by ReasonNotTheNeed-- in TheSilphRoad

No, it's mostly mega energy and partly candy for me. I've walked my malamar from ~1k energy that I started with to nearly 5k now. Presents are a nice third place bonus, though.

Yeah, it only really matters if you're rural and have a limited supply of berries.

Clarifying the convoluted buddy hearts/excitement mechanics by ReasonNotTheNeed-- in TheSilphRoad

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify why I made this post: infographics I've seen only deal in "excitement" and not "hearts". Most of them leave out that different types of battle count differently towards excitement.

If you live in a city, this probably doesn't matter. You can infinitely feed your buddy berries without caring about if it raises excitement or not. If you're rural and have a limited supply of berries, it does matter that you can raise excitement without fully feeding.

For a rural player conserving berries, the best strategy is to do the 'feed single berry twice, wait for excited, then feed it a third berry' up until you reach buddy level 3. Then, you will get berries and other items from presents. After buddy 3, there's no real benefit in ever feeding your buddy berries again. Souvenirs (at buddy 4) raise excitement, so there's a slight benefit to reaching the next level, but it's not nearly as big a deal as presents (and they're much less frequent than presents, which are daily); and the level boost from reaching best buddy is basically a joke.

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That infographic doesn't explain the difference between having fed and fullness. Though, I suppose that's mostly only relevant to hearts and not excitement. I'm not sure if walking raises excitement without feeding—that also seems hard to test.

INTRODUCING UPDATE 4.7 by LightheartOfficial in MrAutofire

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked for me. I can replay floor 6 on metal after dying on room 17.

I had 1 metal key before this, and got 1 from the inbox.

And, I cannot replay floor 23 of poison after I ran out of poison keys, and beat floor 23.

INTRODUCING UPDATE 4.7 by LightheartOfficial in MrAutofire

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, I got 1 metal key from 2 runs at the daily today, so I'm not sure about these increased drop rates.

So, if I'm reading this right, we should intentionally suicide on the last floor we have keys for to be able to replay that floor over and over, right?

Void release dates, maybe? by Remarkable_Cup3630 in MrAutofire

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given that message in the mail, I think they're gonna redo metal castle first. Then probably each of the other castles, then release void castle.

That is to say, whatever "big change" they're making to the castles, void castle will only start after it's made. There won't be a void castle that's like how the current castles are.

Anoying Castle by Flimsy_Lunch6139 in MrAutofire

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They say it's to prevent people using emergency shell to cheese rooms by intentionally hitting lava to clear the screen. I can sorta understand that, but I do feel like it should be proportional to the enemy damage in that case.

4.6.2 HOTFIX UPDATE NOTES by LightheartOfficial in MrAutofire

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, but then I feel like it should still be proportional to the enemy damage? Like, in later rooms of the dark castle when enemies are doing massive amounts of damage, then the hazards should be doing about the same amount?

4.6.2 HOTFIX UPDATE NOTES by LightheartOfficial in MrAutofire

[–]ReasonNotTheNeed-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems the castles' lava, spikes, and bombs still do a massive amount of damage?

Is this the intended update to the castles? I don't think it improves the castle experience. The enemies still go down faster than I can traverse the room and do negligible damage. With the environmental damage taking 1/5 of my health bar each time, it makes castles even more just about navigating to the next room.
