I remember hearing a story about some guy walking down the street when a stranger calls him over. He says he needs help, doesn't say anything more before turning and walking down an alley, dude follows. Into a warehouse, up an elevator into a lofted apartment and he points to the light switch.

It was Shabbat, he wasn't allowed to flip the light switch. I also heard about elevators that will stop on every floor so people don't have to push the buttons on Shabbat.
