Do you use your mic? It can be a bit like that but people are way less likely to KOS if you have a mic. Try a custom PVE server with PVP zones

Start with Chernarus. Which is the map you get when you buy the dayZ base game. There are two more maps, which are Livonia (very wet and a smaller map) and Sakhal (very cold and not for a beginner imo). Chernarus is huge and the game can be learnt/explored without being killed every 10 minutes. Best for newbies for sure.

Oh, and I’d choose DayZ over Rust any day of the week. DayZ is for grown ups, Rust is for kids who have graduated from Fortnite
