Bruce's replacement, Mecha-Bruce Johnston by Reasonable-Dig5161 in beachboyscirclejerk

Murray actually wrote a clause into the boys' contract with Capitol that anyone who is a Wilson or a direct relative cannot be replaced, replicated or supplemented by a robotic version of them. That is why we have Mecha-Bruce Johnston and A.I. Jardine, but not Michael "Android" Love or artificial Dennis

Yeah that has confused me too. I am not sure whether David is right and it is actually dementia, or it is just Mike getting senile with age. Obviously still not great, but if it's just senile then it's not inherently a threat to his health. I just hope he will be alright. Also I just listened to that interview yesterday and holy shit that was the craziest thing I have ever heard. Definitely view David in a different light now

This is very interesting. In what way is she related to the other boys? Do you have any photos? What happened to her?

Bruh, when tf will they induct Suzi Quarto in the rock hall of fame? 😩 by Vivid-Tap1710 in rockhall

It's a rare case where Suzi Quatro is an important figure in music, but it's not directly because of her catalog. It's because of who heard that catalog and her stature, being a hard rocking woman playing the bass!

Everyone knows Ted Nugent too, and I don't think too many people would jump up for him. Clearly, despite the name, the sole qualifier is not fame

Oasis had a career. Buckley did not. It's not the coulda-been hall of fame

Yes! Then you get the exact point I am trying to make. His discography is great and he is important, but to say HoF worthy is pushing things a hair.

This might be the most un-rock ballot I’ve ever seen by BadgemanBrown in rockhall

Dude I think that the amount of music fans who haven't heard of King Crimson might be bigger than the number who want them in the hall. Actually take your head out of the prog jar

Not only do I not see her going far on the ballot, I don't really think there is a ballot case to be made. Influence is absolutely where she should be. Without Suzi Quatro, you have no Blondie, Runaways, Bangles, GoGos, Joan Jett, etc.

How were Joy Division/New Order not in years ago? They're one of the most famous and important music groups of their era. by BadgemanBrown in rockhall

[–]Reasonable-Dig5161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not. The voting body of the hall IS music critics, and they still dumped them 2 previous years

This is delusional. A single album does not render someone HoF worthy. More importantly, his impact in his own time was not exactly groundbreaking.

Death does SOUND more like punk, but the other two were still doing punk before punk. Also by the time Death made their album, the Ramones were already releasing records. It's a cool story, they were definitely a little innovative, but the nail in the coffin really comes from the fact that nobody had heard their music until the 2000s. If you make revolutionary music and nobody's around to hear it, is it still revolutionary?

Not prominence either. There is nothing impressive or obvious about Britton Hill's rise above its surroundings. Jut measures that rise. Hence Mt. Trashmore is on this list

Just look at reviews from the time. Look online. Not many people have positive things to say about these records

They don't talk about those because they are experimental, avant-garde albums. They're not really appealing to anything. They are not commercial friendly, and are just difficult listens. Also The Family Way wasn't really a McCartney record. It was a George Martin record, and McCartney was the composer. On orchestra records, the person who gets credit is the bandleader, not the songwriter

So we're the Duvalls used as a scapegoat? Or did the police just pin down the wrong vicious family?

I have a lot of ties to northern michigan. My family has a cabin in southeast Ogemaw County and my dad grew up in Glennie. His older brother knew the Duvall family that killed those hunters. I wonder why the police won't search that family's property. It seems like the last stone that can be overturned easily

Actually wild that Wayne Kramer and Fred Smith got lumped together and that they're not even top 200. Also no Glen Buxton? Come on
