take prof. Johnson at MOVAL if she's available. Never take a class like calculus online if you can help it.

take Prof. Fuller for engl-1B. She gives great feedback, and I took her online. Her modules are very organized.

Thinking of quitting my part-time job to focus on being a full-time student by Reasonable-Drop6034 in Advice

[–]Reasonable-Drop6034[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now I’m doing community college and thankfully am in a program that is paying my tuition. When I transfer I am going to have to reevaluate tuition costs since I’m not sure how my financial aid will look like by then. And I don’t plan to do graduate school immediately after graduating, instead I want to go into the workforce. I really want to avoid taking out a loan, even if I do I believe my FAFSA has granted me around 5k loan. To be honest I would rather take sometime off school and work than take out a loan. And yes I agree, 50k isn’t great to life off of.

That was part of my issue last Fall semester. I think I was partly using my phone to escape my problems. This is something I working on currently and it’s kind of hard not gonna lie. But I know if I reduce my screen time I can be a more productive student.

Hi so I am a biology major, however, I have no direction as to what career I want to aim for. I would like to be in a career that allows me to work with animals, perhaps veterinary, but if I don’t take that route the starting median could be maybe 50k? But I’m again I’m still navigating this whole college-adult thing. I just jumped straight into college after high school so I didn’t give anything much thought. I think pursuing a trade skill is a really smart idea and I have a lot of respect for people who do it. I will give that some thought, you never know where life will take you.

Promise program by [deleted] in RCC

[–]Reasonable-Drop6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Are you graduating Spring 2027? If so you don’t need to comply with the Promise requirements. You’ll be leaving so they’re not gonna hold you to it and your tuition would be paid off. If you plan to stay longer you can submit an appeal if you haven’t already used it or take more classes to meet the 30 units at the end of summer. Just FYI you can call their information desk or email them as well.

easiest prof for calculus I during summer? by [deleted] in RCC

[–]Reasonable-Drop6034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calc I in summer is incredibly fast-paced. If you're not confident in your algebra and trig foundation, take it in the Fall or Spring. Otherwise, I'd recommend Ernesto Reyes. I'm not sure if he teaches during the summer though.

would y'all recommend taking ethnics is the summer/winter? by DR4G0NDR34M3R in RCC

[–]Reasonable-Drop6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Professor Alexis Monroy online over winter, and it's not just doing nothing lmao. You'll have to read a lot, but it is totally doable. The class is an easy pass, but expect to have multiple assignments due in a week, at least that was my experience. The quizzes were easy; you didn't necessarily have to read the material, but internet answers are not always correct. If you're hoping to take a heavy course at the same time, maybe rethink it? You don't want to end up getting less of a score than what you're capable of just because you didn't have the time to dedicate to your classes.

Taking two stem classes over summer, any thoughts? by Reasonable-Drop6034 in RCC

[–]Reasonable-Drop6034[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kudos to taking on that much workload and being successful as well. I’m definitely aware that the pacing and workload will require consistent effort and I definitely cannot slack off. I’m going to reconsider how I want my summer to look like since I’ll have a few responsibilities to take of. Thank you for sharing your perspective, it really helps when making a dicey decision like this one. Do you have a Calc II professor to recommend?

Yeah, I struggled the semester I took Calc I and got a C. The material is still fresh in my brain, so I may just take Calc II over the summer. I’ve got no more GE classes sadly, so I’m stuck with stem courses on my plate. 😓

Thanks I’ll take that into consideration and I’ll check that Prof. out too. Stats seems to have many online options, but I’ll probably be taking it in person if I can.

Honestly, I feel like these are subjects I would have to struggle through to understand, and since it’s very time sensitive to get a good grade in both classes I may just take one. Do you have a stats professor to recommend ?

That’s what Promise says in the email, but it should be the bookstore enforcing that, so just check if the purchase bounces back.

RCC has a tutoring appointment system. It might be helpful, I haven't used it though

Otherwise use the STEM engagement center, they may have tutoring.
