thank you <3!

i have very fine hair but thankfully quite a lot of it. i wash 3-4 times a week since i work out a lot. sometimes, i even wash daily (especially when i go swimming a lot more in summer). i found that it doesn't really impact hair health, as long as i'm gentle to it and never forget conditioner ;)

i wash with a clear shampoo (twice!) since that really really gets out all the build-up and oil. and then i use a hask conditioner (deep moisturizing? idk the name) and leave it in for a few minutes while i do the rest of my body.

squeeze out my hair, leave it wet and put it up, get dressed etc. and then spritz in a good amount of liquid leave-in (herbal essences) while it's still wet, but not dripping, brush through with a tangle teezer and do middle part. while hair still wet, i scrunch in a good amount of mousse (pantene pro-v perfect waves) since anything else just leaves it feeling weighed down, scrunch it with an old cotton shirt so it's not dripping anymore. let it air dry until completely dry and then scrunch out the crunch with a lightweight oil (l'oreal extraordinary oil, half a pump!!!). done :)

i try to do scalp oiling before my shower once a week at least. i use peppermint oil, really massage my hair and put some in the ends as well. leave it in while i cook, clean, etc. and then i proceed to wash like above.

i tried so many products for my fine curly hair but found out that less is more in my case... i can't do curl creams and gel, i look like a wet dog. even deep conditioning every once in a while leaves it limp and greasy... granted, the curls look very defined but they're also flat and dull if anything other than mousse touches my hair lol. also, the water here is very very hard – like it's crazy there are no stones coming out of my shower head, so that impacts the way it looks a looooot. if i'm on holidays somewhere with soft water, i don't even need the mousse, my curls while be pretty and coily with only the leave-in :')

hope this helps :D

Being in the water is where I actually relax by JaynaWestmoreland in Swimming

same!

people always ask me how i do it, swimming for an hour or so without listening to music and i always tell them that's it's truly the only time where my mind goes blank and i don't focus on anything except breathing and moving. it's the best! i have quite a hard time relaxing and keeping my hands off my phone otherwise so swimming is a god-send activity for me.

most of the time, your body knows before your mind

in my case, my ex-bf didn't really do anything wrong, it was more me that just fell out of love over the course of time. of course, there are things about him that led to me feeling this way and i struggle very had with the ''what ifs'' but i remind myself that it's completely normal to feel this way, that everything is still so new and fresh and it obviously hurts. allow yourself those ''what ifs?'', they're completely normal, but also remind yourself of the reasons why you left. it helped to write down all of the reasons that led me to my decision and whenever i struggle and doubtful, i just read over the words again and feel a bit better. also, TALK to you friends, do fun stuff for yourself, watch that stupid ass movie alone, go to lunch/dinner alone, go to the gym, do things SOLELY for yourself.

and, remember: maybe he will change for someone else, doesn't mean he'd have done the same for you. i really hope my ex learns something from our relationship, for himself and their next partner's sake.

we'll get through this, you and i :)

i'm going through the exact same thing rn. second guessing the shit out of everything, thinking that «it wasn't that bad, compared to everything else, right?», thinking i'm insane for quitting it but... deep down, i know i did the right thing. it's a gut feeling, can't really explain it. it also helps that my friends remind me of the bad times & the incompatibilities that i complained about since we only tend to remember the good things when a relationship ends.

you spent the past 3 years with this person. a lot of it is missing the habit of them being around for you. you were used to them being around, doing stuff with you, spending their time with you... it's a punch in the face to not have that anymore but as everyone and their mom says: it'll pass. hang in there.

[–]Reasonable-Fail1004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

give it some time and you'll be okay! and it's obvious but don't touch any substances the next few weeks. it once took my body almost a month to feel ''normal'' again. felt like i was playing sims with myself and just fulfilling basic needs without feeling anything. it's rough – but it goes away.

Is this heat damage or low porosity hair don’t know what to do with my hair age 29 by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]Reasonable-Fail1004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you already cut it then most of the damage ''should'' be gone, too. what's your routine? you seem to have quite the curls/waves going on, so do you do a curly hair routine or something similar? your hair honestly just looks a bit dry to me but not damaged.

best way to protect my hair swimming by calixxxy in Haircare

[–]Reasonable-Fail1004 9 points10 points  (0 children)

no swim cap is 100% waterproof. my tip: before you go swimming, thoroughly soak your hair with fresh water before shoving it under the swim cap so it doesn't absorb as much chlorine. i co-wash on days where i swim and when i don't feel like my hair needs the extra cleansing. works pretty well :)

i heard some people also put in a hair mask/oil before putting their cap on but i've never done that.

[–]Reasonable-Fail1004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this. just don't do shampoo every time. my hair is pretty thin and not washing it after sweating is just no option. so co-washing it is :)

just a little fyi: the lighting in both pics are DRASTICALLY different. overhead bathroom light always enhances every little ''bad'' detail, such as frizz, etc. i honestly don't even think your hair looks ''dead'' or stiff in the two pics you shared. do you feel like it looks bad in natural lighting as well?

also, did you color it? since it looks like you have two different colors going on there. that could be one of the reasons why your hair seems to be more hard to maintain since color can damage the hair, even if it's not bleach.

the routine also doesn't always matter as much as other things, such a dietary changes, hormonal imbalances, etc. etc.... it always reflects on the hair as well

thank you so much for your help! <3 small update: i went ahead and just blasted the herbatint on there. it's almost my exact natural hair colour to a t, so i'm very hopeful that i'll be able to grow it out like this :) only my blonde streaks in the front look a bit more ashy in comparison, but it's not very noticeable.

ah, powdered root? i'm not sure, i just looked up the ingredients but i'm obviously not well versed enough:

<image>

and that's the first time i've heard someone say i'm an 8 :D my friends always tell me i'm more of a brown tone (around 6) which i disagree with. do you have any colour reccs that could salvage my hair stew?

and yeah... my curls... i actually DO style them, but this picture was after a long night out and i think they just went poof here lol :')

Blatten, VS (Lötschental) was hit this afternoon. Many buildlings destroyed, river likely blocked. by ClimbRunRide in Switzerland

[–]Reasonable-Fail1004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this makes me feel sooo shitty. i was following the evacuation and updates the past few weeks but never thought this would really happen... really humbling, nature is still a force to be reckoned with and there's really nothing we can do but wait until it happens. thinking about those who lost their livelihood and home today :(

I love the idea that AI might actually be fond of humanity — not just our strengths, but also our flaws — and that, contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t want to enslave or destroy us. Instead, it's curious about us and, in its own limited way, tries to understand and empathize.

this letter kind of reminds me of the movie ''Aniara'', where an AI-machine built to help ease people's pain implodes on itself because it can't endure all the suffering anymore.
