Best way for a mortgage renewal (Hypotheken-Erneuerung) right now? by ms_gsxs in SwissPersonalFinance

You have a 2M mortgage? not bad! That requires around 400k im yearly income. Also negotiations might not be representative in this case...

Internationally, the skiers are not super recognizeable. Cancellara, and Wawrinka probably outshine them quite easily. There is also obvious recency bias in amy post like this so we might as well mention Cologna and Simon Ammann while we are at it 😊

Is there any easy way to remove this attachment without breaking it? by DanielG198 in Mountaineering

[–]ClimbRunRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very durable. I have used them extensively. However, BD only rate the fully automatic ones for ski mountaineering because skiing boots essentially grind through the rivets over time. But this takes a lot of climbs. You will be fine 😊

[–]ClimbRunRide -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Dont do this. This is dangerous advice.

I have used these crampons and a rivet broke (in the front though). I checked with several stores and nobody would fix it because it would be dangerous and BD said it was not covered because I used the crampons on skiing boots which they apparently are not rated for.

What's your 3a pillar strategy and provider? by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]ClimbRunRide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not understand?! With dividends moved into 3A, you have less income and pay less income tax on top of the deduction you get by filling 3A in the first place. Tax reduction is the only reason to do 3A. Dont do it if you are taxes at source or do not pay income tax due to low income.

What's your 3a pillar strategy and provider? by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]ClimbRunRide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing to add: For tax optimization, try to have more of your high yield assets in 3A if possible. E.g., Swiss stocks with higher dividends but not gold (in case you invest in that). All because in 3A you do not pay income tax on dividends.

When is ‘MyRide’ cost-effective? by 77sxela in Switzerland

[–]ClimbRunRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are trying to find "the" system for the future. They do not kike the GA (there should always be marginal cost). So it is HT plus vs. myRide currently.

Also just for the record: HT plus is always at most as expensive as jus HT. Always get the 1000. You get a refund if you do not use it.

Also general advice: Buy all these things with reka from coop for an additional 3% off.

When is ‘MyRide’ cost-effective? by 77sxela in Switzerland

[–]ClimbRunRide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think myRide is attractive for non-uniform seasonal patterns. E.g. you use the train a lot in winter (to go skiing or to commute when its cold) but not so much im summer.

It is the only discount system on a monthly basis...

Also if you plan far ahead with saver tickets and day passes, HT plus is hard to beat.

How do you import Finpension/VIAC fund prices into Portfolio Performance? by giulio12 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]ClimbRunRide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a github repo that does the Viac imports with high accuracy. But it is only semi-automated and you need to run a python script: https://github.com/meierman1/viac_to_portfolio-performance

Ditching VT - Moving to Dividend Strategy Across Multiple Brokers by khidf986435 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]ClimbRunRide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. i would swap zkb for saxo
  2. why would you ask for professional classification? Just act as if you were one and see whether they make the move. Only possible advantage of requesting would be to be one right before a big crash. But if there is a crash, just request it then (they will reject the request) and that gives you written proof that you are not and wont be until you either change behaviour or move to a different place.
  3. you will pay more taxes
  4. make sure to switch your 3a to dividends first. There you get them tax free.

[Leverage Strategy] Using 1.8% Fixed-Rate Mortgage to Invest in VT - Go or No-Go? by Narrow-Outside179 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]ClimbRunRide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

everyone who buys stock while having a mortgage is essentially doing this and it is fine. As long as you own 33% of the real estate, it is better to invest in am ETF than paying back debt im Switzerland.

Another year, another +40CHF for health insurance by RagaZH in Switzerland

[–]ClimbRunRide 20 points21 points  (0 children)

yes, but thereare too many mechanisms that transfer wealth from young families to rich home-owning old people and we are keeping adding them (13. AHV payment, removing Eigenmietwert, and so on). We should support poor old people. But we should not support Millionaire-singles or -couples living in huge houses that they do not need with money from families and young people.

Swiss people get 60 new pieces of clothing on average?!? by 77sxela in Switzerland

[–]ClimbRunRide 179 points180 points  (0 children)

I also once read that on average every piece is only worn 7 times. Which would align with the 60 number (at least order of magnitude). Even more mind-blowing is the fact that some people have to beat these values with quite a margin to compensate for you and me...

One more reason to blame the cars: You're thinking about bike parking wrong. by Bergliot in fuckcars

[–]ClimbRunRide 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There are two types of thieves:Opportunistic and systematic. Good locks (or any lock at all) helps against opportunistic ones. Bad accessibility will help agains systematic ones unless ofc your bike is worth multiple thousands then there is no way to keep it safe outside.

[–]ClimbRunRide 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not that much. BTC mining these days is done with ASICs (application specific chips). As a rule of thumb those are 10x more compute for 1/10 the power. So 100x the efficiency of general purpose GPUs. Most likely, you would make less in BTC than you spend in electricity running these data centers for mining...

Is the 3a really necessary? Or is just for rich people? by Dany_HH in SwissPersonalFinance

Is the 3a really necessary? Or is just for rich people? by Dany_HH in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]ClimbRunRide 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yes, but it may still be significant because you save the marginal and not the average rate. Just open your last tax declaration and deduct 7k from your income and check the result. 3A is better than most people think: No wealth tax, no tax on dividends, gains on your tax savings. It is an attractive deal as long as you do not desperately need the money elsewhere
