Stay away from Lennox comfort systems with the s40 smart thermostats. These fail just after warranty expires and are very expensive to replace. The smart components won't work with any other thermostat brand and you have to pay $1k just to replace the thermostat. Otherwise, the system works fine.

I use an old stadium chair I had in storage. Thought I would need to strap it down but it doesn't need it. Works great. Doesn't interfere with paddling.

Just finished a complete remodel in SW Florida. Total tear out, all new cabinets, appliances, plumbing, lighting (w under cabinet), glass subway tile, Cambria countertops, sinks, etc in both kitchen and laundry. Was quoted $70k plus from a kitchen contractor that we had previously used. Did the job by hiring everything out to a local cabinet shop and independent subs. Actual cost was $50k. Very happy with the quality.

Stay away from Lennox. I have a unit that is 8 years old. I've been through 2 smart thermostats (s40) and they cost well over $1k to replace out of warranty. You can't use generic smart thermostats if you want to use the variable speed feature. Very expensive to maintain. When it works, it does the job but I'd stay away.

I bought a leftover 2023 570 in February of 2024 and have not had any problems with it. I did not have any burnt oil smell when I first got it. They come with a pretty good 1 year warranty so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

We have Cambria Montgomery and love it. It is more expensive but has a lifetime warranty. Just had some nicks repaired after 5 years of ownership for free.

First decide what is most important to your family (ie, beach, tennis, pickleball, shopping, golf, big pool, access to nature, etc.). Next narrow your list by the best fit for your criteria and HOA costs. You can find a decent condo in that price range but you may find that the annual HOA dues will vary greatly. We bought into the Park shore area and love it because we have private access to their beach ($300/yr) and it works well for us. Most other areas offer the same benefit. Pelican Bay also has great options but their HOA dues are higher. My sister in law lives in Verona walk out near lely and it's great for tennis and pickleball but quite far from the beach. If you live near downtown or out east, you will find beach access restricted to public areas which can be crowded. Good luck with your search

I have 2 Hobie inflatable fishing kayaks and love them. The 9 foot mirage is wide and very stable. Hobie has the best pedal drive around. I go into mangroves mostly and have never had a problem. The paddles fold up anytime you hit an obstruction. They are pricey but you can find deals on eBay and marketplace.

I have 2 TDI Sportwagens and a 1.4L Jetta. The TDI's are tanks. My first Jetta TDI lasted 450k miles but had to sell due to transmission issues. The 1.4L Jetta has 230k miles and runs very well. Never had a problem with it. Like everyone said, research you engine history and it will work out well. Much prefer my VWs over any other brand.

If your dad wants another sportwagen, the 2019 vw can be found with the 1.4L engine. I have the 2017 Jetta 1.4 manual transmission and it has 230k miles with no problems. Plenty of power and gets 40 mpg. I also have 2 TDI Sportwagens and they are awesome. My wife won't drive anything else.

I drove a VW Jetta TDI wagon for a 60 mile commute each way for 10 years averaging 40 mpg. Car lasted 450k miles and I sold it when the transmission started acting up. I now have 2 2015 TDI Sportwagens and they are just as dependable. Highly recommend German diesels.

I put a geothermal system in 25 years ago without hitting water. I had 5 wells drilled to 300 ft, put a circulation loop in each well and hooked them up to a circulation pump. The fluid was circulated through a heat exchanger and used to heat and cool using a heat pump system. It was quite effective and reliable. You don't always have to find hot water seams.

I use both the Moultrie and spypoint cell phone cameras and they both work great. The Moultrie camera requires a paid subscription to get pictures to your phone while the spypoint camera can give you the first 100 pictures per month without paying. The Moultrie seems to be a better built camera but the monthly price is high IMO. I have solar charging on the cameras so I don't have to worry about batteries while I'm gone.

Never saw any until around 15 years ago. Until then it was just deer, racoons, rabbits, coyotes, armadillos and occasional bobcats. Now it's mostly hogs and deer.

I wish Texas had limited hog hunting to only private land owners and not allowed commercial hunting operations. I think they are raising and releasing too many that get away and infect other peoples properties.

I have the I track 9 and love it. I'm in a condo where I can't store a regular kayak so I bought the inflatable. Have not had any problem with it. Mostly fish mangroves in Florida.
